“Comfortable Hotel in Holt”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

My wife and I stayed here in mid November. Very comfortable room, good sized en-suite with a top notch breakfast served in a light and airy breakfast room.

The position is great – just off the main street in Holt but tucked away to avoid the noise and traffic.

Only had a meal on a saturday evening. Booked in for 7.30. The food I had was ok, unfortunately by 8.20 the lass serving was polishing the tables around us. Unfortunately all I could smell and taste was furniture polish. Needless to say I did NOT want anything more and obviously complained. Really dont know if staff understood how horrible my experience had been but cannot therefore recommend this hotel for its restaurant. Very disappointing as looks quite attractive.

Excellent town centre location, plenty of parking, pleasant gardens for a drink. Our room was spacious (bathroom was huge!) and well equipped, although there were a few items for a 'snagging' list. Breakfast was faultless - high quality and lots of choice.

We stayed here recently whilst attending a sixtieth birthday/1940's weekend on the north Norfolk railway. The location is excellent, the staff were friendly and obliging, and all the food we ate here was delicious. A lovely place to stay, with a sunny garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break.

The hotel is located near the centre of the gorgeous village of Holt. The room was excellent size overlooking the lovely garden but was a little tired and needs a new carpet, window frames and work in the bathroom. The staff were all pleasant and we had an enjoyable drink in the garden. The shower was in the bath, did not have a bathmat and so we did our usual trick if putting a towel on the bottom to avoid slipping. Breakfast was superb and lasted us for the day. Pleny of spare milk etc. on the landing.

Sitting just two minutes walk from the centre of Holt, this hotel is ideal for people visiting this pretty town. The garden is well furnished and along with the good sized bar and sitting room there is plenty of space to relax. The meals were excellent and the staff pleasant and cheerful. The room was a good size with good amenities. Very clean and everything worked

Friday 12th July – Lawns Hotel (Holt)
Day FOUR of our five day 102 mile cycle trip around Norfolk and its coastline booked with UK Cycle Holidays – the concept they book you into B&Bs on a designated route and you cycle every day and they drop off your bags at the next location. B&Bs – 1. Sculthorpe Mill (near Fakenham) 2. Orange Tree Restaurant and Hotel (Thornham) 3. Red Lion (Stiffkey) 4. Lawns Hotel (Holt) . Restaurants - Byfords (Holt) and The Bull Inn (Little Walsingham).

We cycled from Stiff Key to Blakeney Nature Reserve to see the seals and booked ourselves a trip. Well worth the visit. Cycled onto Holt (really mean hill just as you arrive into Holt; challenging so we had a little breather half way up!) arrived at the Lawn Hotel at 2.30pm.

Ravishingly hungry the Lawn Hotel had stopped serving food at 2pm and recommended Byford’s to us in the centre of town. Absolutely delicious – so good we went back for dinner as well five hours later! (See our review Byfords, Holt)

We were impressed by the Lawn’s amount of awards on display, although the atmosphere inside the hotel made us think of Fawlty Towers, no buzz, more quite library vibe. Our room décor looked like it was in between styles with the lighting being traditional, then leather headboard, bedding and en suite bathroom all ultra modern. The bed was comfy although we did roll together in the middle. Loved the bathroom, really bright (perfect for doing makeup) with beautiful turquoise and white tiles on the wall.

Didn’t think the cleaner should have been vacuuming outside the breakfast room at 8.30am while everyone was eating!
