We have visited every year since we had our wedding there in 2010. We love it, there is a lovely warm atmosphere whenever we have been and Rob, the sommelier is always excellent and very professional. Would highly recommend.

The food and venue were very good, unfortunately the service was very poor.

We have dined at 10+ Michelin Star restaurants and the service was not what we have come to expect for this kind of dining experience.

The Sommelier was personable but clearly very lacking in experience and knowledge of wines, in our chat with him he mentioned he was the trainee.
There was also a young very nervous waitress who made us feel uncomfortable she was so nervous.

Both were desperately trying to remember “there lines”, there was no passion in what they were saying.

It is the small things that make the service exceptional but basics were missing. Offering to take coats before I had to ask myself for them to be taken as they were in the way when we were trying to sit down.
We asked the Sommelier which was the water glasses and he pointed to it and walked off, even if you are not going to pour water all night you would expect your first glass to be poured. The water was never poured for us.
Napkins were left on the table which meant the awkward waitress then has a big problem trying to put the food on top of the napkin. Bread crumbs were not scraped from the table etc etc.

We went for matching wines which were very pleasant with the high quality of food and we paid the service tip as we didn’t believe it was these junior staff’s fault that they had not been trained to a high standard.
We left feeling that the experience was not value for money.

We ate (and stayed) here last night as part of my 40th birthday celebrations. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we felt so special and so welcome. The passion of the team shines through every element. Last nights' menu was exquisite in every detail, every bite from the complimentary canapés to the delicate petit fours was so memorable. The attentive non obtrusive staff added to our experience but I must mention the sommelier; his knowledge, passion and (most importantly) his wine choice added real value to our evening. To top of this amazing visit, the man himself even took time out to offer some fantastic personal touches. Roll on my 50th (or the missus' next big birthday!!!). Thanks for such a memorable celebration!!

Nice setting, friendly staff. Unfortunately the food was poor, much of it too salty and the fish was cold and undercooked. Have had better food at chain restaurants.

We visited as part of a North Norfolk break and were very excited about eating here. The tasting menu was mostly delicious, but did contain a few elements which were not as good as expected. Ordinarily I would not be as critical, however because of the cost of the tasting menu and the Michelin star status, I was expecting a lot more from this dining experience. The service was also again not as good as expected. The serving staff at times seemed dis-interested and not particularly friendly. I am glad I visited, but I would not visit again.
