“Great weekend”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Our second visit here. Lovely big room, comfy bed and sofa, gorgeous views, or would have been if it wasn't for the rain! Our Full English breakfasts were the best meals of the weekend (fish and chips in Cromer a disappointment), friendly owners. Ideal location. Larger bath towels would be welcome. Central heating, but the room also had a fan should we have needed it, and a plug-in radiator which came in handy to dry a coat! Will book again next year.

on arrival at the Gables we were greeted by Richard our host, who made us instantly feel welcome, he informed us of best place to eat/drink and what places had entertainment on. our room was spotless as was the rest of the house, the bed very comfy and lovely balcony with view of the sea :) the breakfast was superb, we had the full english but there was lots of other choices. The owners cat Oliver is quite a character and greeted us each morning on our balcony :) a truely delightful weekend at the gables, and shall definatley stay here again

we have just had weekend break at the gables . Richard the owner was very friendly and helpful telling us where we could get a nice meal in the evening .Our room was lovely nice big window , the beds were so comfortable with beautiful bedding . There was loads of hot water and good shower. What can we say about breakfast plenty of it so tasty and fresh. the location is great just a short walk into town and to the seafront . Nice wide road outside the hotel we never had a problem parking . We would definatly stay again if visiting Hunstanton.

Room Tip: room 3 nice big window overlooking the street

does exactly what it says on the tin.......and then some more............the owners run a business with a difference........they do it with passion.......can't fault it......lovely room, chocolates on the bed on arrival......nice decor, spotlessly clean with everything in the room you could want.....fridge,fan,hairdryer,iron,ironing board, nice toiletries.....the little touches that make all the difference...... etc etc........breakfast was a delight....all freshly cooked to order.............i'm now re-reading this so far & thinking its too positive.......but it isn't.......well worth the refreshing experience of appreciating when a couple do it right........keep it up!!!......there's hardly any room for improvement!!

Room Tip: we had room 5.......lovely sea views!!!

Just home after 3 nights at the Gables. Initially met by Linda - charming and kind, and conveyed to room 1. This was furnished with suitable apparently period furniture and having a balcony with a side sea view to watch the glorious sunset which we did later indeed see. Breakfast next morning was individually cooked and of high quality. Throughout, Linda and Richard were unobtrusive, yet always ready to help or advise. Excellent throughout and deserving of an even higher 'review score'. Jim.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Gables. It was lovely. We had a wonderful room on the top floor that overlooked the sea.

The breakfasts were superb and the vegetarian breakfast was excellent and cooked separately from the other food. All the breakfasts were freshly cooked and there was plenty of choice. The dining room like the rest of the house was spotless.

The hosts were really friendly and we asked to see the dogs but other than that we didn't see them around the place at all, not that we would have minded as we love animals. There were a lot of nice extra touches that makes a holiday special including beautiful chocolates in our room on arrival.

It is in a lovely house in a beautiful location very near the seafront and we had a great time and would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: No 5 is lovely room with kingsized bed and has a fantastic view but there are 2 flights of stairs so...

All I can say is it has deteriorated from the last visit, poor service at breakfast and animals to run freely around the house, bedrooms even the kitchen, the last time I came I was very impressed with the overall cleanliness and service and thought the rooms this time needed updating and cleaning properly, the breakfast was lovely but would have been better in non chipped crockery, also it would have been nice to have seen a clean window sill which had dead flies in for the past 3 days, and no receipt for payment I felt the amount paid was not justified for the quality,
such a shame as the Gables is in a lovely location and a previous experience had been lovely.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write us a review. I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us this time. We take note of your comments although I do not entirely agree with a lot of them. The Gables is an Edwardian house so updates are done on a regular basis but without taking away the charm of this very old property which was once lived in by the famous architect Herbert Ibberson. However one remark I feel I must comment on in particuar is that i must stress that the only reason one of our pets was in the guest house was on request of another guest that wished to meet them, unfortunately not everyone like yourselves are animal friendly which is why our pets are usually housed at the back of our living accommodation, are certainly not allowed to wander freely and are not allowed in the guest area or kitchen area at breakfast service, this is the reason you did not see them on your previous visit!
