“Very pleasant short stay”

Booked ahead for one night and stayed in Room 2 (Lavender) with good sea view and comfortable large bed and spacious shower room. Staff all very helpful and attentive. Did not eat in but attracted by what appears to be new upmarket restaurant business venture upstairs as part of hotel ("Steak and Stilton") - would definately have tried it if our stay was longer as there is a lack of such establishments in Hunstanton. Free parking useful as it is very central location and parking is at a premium.

I have just spent 1 night at this establishment with my mother, & chose it because it states it is a b & b, (& was not able to find the ph. no. to where we would have stayed.) Maybe I should have heard alarm bells when I was asked to pay £60 as soon as I had signed in, on a form. I did say I would like to see what I was paying for first! I was shown up to the Lavender Room had a quick look round, gave the idea of good sized twin room, big shower room, and views of the sea....& building site, theatre and bus station. I returned to bar area of 'hotel', paid my money, told breakfast was sold down ( & out) in the bar area for further £10, collected my mother and we left for the afternoon. On arriving back at 9.45p.m. we went to the room. On closer inspection the nice room showed up a few flaws! The white net curtain was distinctly black against the open window, drink tray was well stocked with 12 milk....2 coffee and 4 tea bags... I would have enjoyed the chance of declining a biscuit with my coffee! No clock, no shower mat, a bathroom that we couldn't find a switch for to turn off the light, & no hairdryer. Still not seeing a member of staff since arriving, we went down for breakfast.... out of the building and through to the public bar entrance. A full English breakfast ...a substantial cooked meal!.....£5 each plus extra for the drinks. Would I recommend or return here...only if you paid ME!

We have now stayed at The Marine hotel on half a dozen occaisions. Every visit has been an absolute pleasure. We always find the staff to be very attentive but as the hotel only has 9 rooms a full time member of staff cannot be justified so sometimes a little patience is needed when checking in, which is done in the bar below the hotel.
The rooms themselves are large and always spotlessly clean, some with a bath others with the most fantastic shower imaginable. It is also nice to see the return of the kettle!
Breakfast is not included but can be purchased in the bar for a cost of £5.00, drinks are available at an extra charge.
Don't go to this hotel expecting 5* chain hotel rooms, after all you do get what you pay for!

We visit Hunstanton several times a year to stay with family. Due to a large family gathering we decided to stay in a hotel. The Marine hotel proved to be an excellent choice, for the location and facilities. Breakfast was optional and for £5.00 the full English was a veritable feast.
The main ingredient in making this a pleasurable experience was the fabulous Alex whose attentiveness and fantastic personality was second to none in the bar/restaurant, all were given excellent service. We will definately be back in the Autumn If only to say Hi to Alex. The Hockleysxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lavender room which was FAB

With only one person on duty for both the hotel and the bar below the service was below standard. This probably has to do with the off season. Hunstanton is a typical summer holiday resort with beaches and the pleasure arcades and staffing will probably be better then. The room was ok with a very nice bathroom. Although I detected a WiFi source from the hotel staff could not tell how to access this so I could not use it. The bar below serves a decent english breakfast in the morning for around 6 pounds.

We stayed for three nights and were very comfortable. Huge very comfortable bed in a well designed bedroom. The shower room had a good modern shower. We had views towards the sea from one window and the shops from the other. The hotel is very conveniently situated for all amenities of this pleasant seaside town. This is really a restaurant/bar with rooms and it works very well. There was an extensive menu including a range of "specials" including ox tail, spare ribs and mussels. The beer was OK too.

Arrived late with no booking, after a twin but offered a double room as twins all gone. Not dissapointed, the room was of a good up to date standard, the bed was massive, very comfortable and we had a good night's uninterrupted sleep. One niggle about the room was that the light and extractor fan in the bathroom did not come on as expected one of those sensor types it only seemed to work when dark, the shower was very good as was the bathroom itself. TV reception was freeview digital terrestrial and very good.

As we had arrived late we had an evening meal in the bar. Staff were friendly enough although they seemed rushed and occupied with other tasks but we put our order in and paid with the order, the same as we paid in advance for the room (no problem as we were showed the room first before booking). The evening meal was more quick bar food than restaurant quality and if it wasn't so late we would have found a local eaterie however it was late and for the price £6.50 chilli con carne, rump steak £9.30 we did not expect gourmet dining.

We paid £60 for bed and breakfast (£30 each). The breakfast was reasonable, we asked the chef to cook the eggs soft yolk but whites fully cooked and he did. No complaints and would stay again but would go out for an evening meal.
