Searles Leisure Resort

Just arrived back from our 3 night weekend at Searles where we stayed in a gold luxury lodge with private hot tub.

The lodge is well equipped, we had an 8 berth lodge which had 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin rooms. 1 en suite with a shower and 1 bathroom with bath and shower. Kitchen was well equipped with plenty of plates, cups and cutlery. The kitchen had fridge freezer, kettle, oven, microwave and dishwasher.

The living area also had TV, table and chairs and seating. However we had a party of 8 but discovered that there were only 5 seats in the sitting room. 7 spaces around the table and also only had 6 outdoor chairs.

Rest of lodge was nice but could do with a paint job to tidy it up.

Hot tub was nice - always nice and hot and well placed outside on the balcony. However, it is only suitable for 5 people at one time max. Also, hot tub meant to be serviced each morning at 10am but staff always late around 2pm and you can't use if for at least half an hour after they have been.

Facilities on site include access to the pool - indoor and outdoor. Pool was okay, not very deep. Also has a slide but is it small. Children's water area and pool also outside. Also plenty of sunbeds at pool area.

Other facilities include shop, arcade, pool tables, bars and restaurants and cafés.

Also evening entertainment available with a good entertainment team who put on shows each night and also have children's entertainment.

Free wifi also available around the site.

Overall decent stay :-)

This was our third visit to searles and the high standard of this resort is always consistent. The staff were helpful and friendly. We stayed in a resort caravan which was immaculate ,fresh smelling and very clean, with a wonderful outside terrace . The ducks just added to the tranquil atmosphere. We booked this time through the sun holiday offer which was fantastic value for money .We have stayed at other parks before and Searles is our favourite and the best for cleanliness, location and professionalism of the staff . Looking forward to a return visit as soon as possible .

Stayed 3 nights in a classic caravan. 2 bedrooms, 2 loos. Lovely comfy lounge /dining area. Searles is in a great location so we didn't move the car all weekend. Pools etc great for little ones, they enjoyed the early evening entertainment too. A great deal for families.

The site is well maintained and has an abundance of friendly ducks, which is really pleasing as they are so tame they will gladly waddle into your tent to make themselves known. Similarly the other wildlife enjoy the guests, and I had a pet sparrow who fed from my hand for the duration of our stay and a pigeon that sat on my husbands lap! The ducks can be quite noisy in the very early hours, so ear plugs are definitely a bonus.
We had a nice size pitch in an area called Hedges along the side of a duck pond, and were sheltered on two sides. The only drawback was that the next day another tent was pitched up backing onto ours, leaving just a 18 inch wide hedge between us. This is because of the shared electric hookup points. Sadly this meant there was no privacy during the night as the other campers were actually closer than had they been in our four person tent, and as they snored very loudly (amongst other things!) the rest of our nights were very broken, which made us both tired and grumpy. Understandably Searles cannot be responsible for where other campers pitch their tents so they are in no way marked down for this. I would just recommend that people take a long hookup lead to avoid having to back to back pitch.

The toilet block was warm and clean, and had plenty of cubicles varying from toilet with hand basins, larger sink cubicles (with plug sockets for hair straighteners etc) and showers. The water pressure was excellent, and after a few minutes ran through at a steady pleasant temperature. Loads of mirrors and two hair-drying points were available.

The entertainment was old school holiday camp with such wonders as Napkin Origami. The bar was quite pricey, but then again most bars are, so we mostly bought our drinks from Tesco across the road, but staff were very happy to help when we did drink in.

As we cooked for ourselves daily we only tried Smokey Joe's on the departure breakfast voucher offer, and I must say the cooked breakfast buffet was yummy. It was all well presented and topped up regularly, and you could help yourself to grapefruit segments, cereal and toast. The only downside was that the coffee was instant, but the taste of the cooked breakfast made up for that and their was a selection of teabags.

The indoor swimming pool is small, but nice to use. Shared changing room facilities (separate cubicles of course!) and lockers were 20p a throw. We used the pool twice, and the busiest time was when it opened at 9am with some 10 swimmers, although they all were swimming laps so it was fine. The outdoor pool is much bigger and looks clean and inviting. Had I had more time I would have loved to try it.
All in all a really good family orientated site who want you to go away smiling. Just remember if camping to bring a long lead and set up away from the hedge! Oh, and earplugs just in case!

Yes some of our pitches do share electric points with the pitches next door and I must apologise if this caused you any inconvenience. However we are really pleased that you enjoyed your holiday with us and very much look forward to welcoming you back to Searle's soon.

Went camping in June for 5 days and though this was an excellent site with good facilities. Pitch was good with surrounding hedges to shelter from the very strong wind. Shower/Toilet blocks were always clean and had separate cubicles for both showers and sinks which I thought was good .idea and gave a bit more privacy. Bar was okay - most of the entertainment was for kid but that is to be expected as is a family based camp. Never had any problems with Noise and everybody seemed friendly on site. Hunstanton is a quiet place but has a number of pubs which were fine. Overall a great Leisure resort which I would strongly recommend.

This was our first time camping and we chose Searles for its location and amenities for the children. We were not disappointed. The tent site was fairly private, hedged off and backing onto a small stream where my children liked to throw bread to the ducks (as previously mentioned they do like to quack quite loudly in the morning, but my ear plugs helped!!). Apart from hearing seagulls and ducks, I found the park fairly quiet and other campers quite mindful of each other. There was a mixture of young families and older couples, and we found everyone friendly. The shower facilities were really close, great if you have young children to walk there with at night. They were also really clean, large enough shower rooms to not feel claustrophobic and large mirrors and a couple of hairdryers. Outside on the toilet/shower room wall were sinks for washing up dishes with draining racks. Although there were a lot of dogs on the site I never saw any dog mess and thought the park was kept really clean and well maintained. The pools were clean and warm. We were lucky enough to have great weather during our Friday night to Sunday break and made the most of the outdoor pool area with large pool, fun slide, baby pool and water play area. There were lots of sun loungers and table and chairs, no sunbed hogging here!! The evening entertainment in the Sundowner bar included bingo, tribute acts, disco and the entertainment team made a real effort. My little girl loved the disco and music from the musicals night. The shop was very well stocked, open 8am to 6pm in June when we visited and I thought it was fairly reasonable. There is a large Tesco just a few minutes walk from the main campsite so they have to be fairly competitive. We hired the cycle buggies at £5 for half an hour as the children really wanted to ride in them and we enjoyed a nice ride round the park. We ate at the Silk Road express chinese takeaway in the main plaza area one night and found this reasonable and tasty. We found all the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. An added bonus (especially for us first timers at camping, not used to taking down tents and packing away!) was that the check out on our Sunday was 5.30pm. This meant we were able to make the most of another almost full day of swimming, playing in Captain Willies indoor play area and relaxing in the campsite.

Just got back from a long weekend our first but not last visit. Took the tent and wow 4 adults and 2 kid for well under £100! The Grandchildren loved it, Everything clean and tidy. Food and drink not expensive. Entertainment also very good. Had kind of expected it to be a bit rough, but no it was not!!!! We will be going again for sure. Well done Searles
