“The best of traditional hospitality...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

We have just returned from Beechwood. From the moment of being met in the car park to the tester bed (room seven), roll top bath and all the traditional fixtures and features this stay was really quality. Others have mentioned the little touches and then remained discrete about what they are so I will hold true to this too. I will mention though that a trip to the downstairs loos are well worth it and if you are caught giggling you might be invited to look at the artwork in the gents too ;)

The staff are all excellent and the menu based on largely local foods is superb, meeting the chef after the meal a good touch too. I am sure we will be back!

Room Tip: Delighted to have been unexpectedly upgraded at no extra charge, very pleased with the room that we...

We have just returned from our weekend stay at the hotel. We were a group of 10 couples from the Ipswich Wolsey Rotary club staying for our annual walking weekend. What a fantastic weekend we all had. Lindsay and every one of his staff could not have been more friendly and helpful on every account.

The food was outstanding, great choice, suberb presentation, served everytime by excellant staff. Great choice of wine. The added special touches were really appreciated (I don't want to give it away what the special touches, were as that would spoil it for others visiting, but trust me it was lovely) Breaksat was equally as good, with so much choice.

We stayed in the house next door in the Ramworth room, which is all part of the hotel, wow is all I can say, our room was wonderful, so many little extra features. The bed was so comfortable, the decor was top class and the shower and bath were both wonderful. Even Moulton Brown compilentry products.

Whilst most of the Rotarians enjoyed an 8 mile walk, three of us ladies enjoyed a relaxing morning in the wonderful gardens of the hotel.

Thank you so much Lindsay and all your staff for making us feel so welcome and running such a wonderful hotel.

I am sure many of will return Thank you.

Room Tip: Our room Ramworth, was excellant in the house next door. Just 4 rooms in the house with exclusive us...

....conjured by the owners Don & Lindsay, not forgetting their well chosen staff.. The words, class, style, panache and many more all come to mind. We are a group of friends who met there for a short break and we were unanimous in that had had we been hotel inspectors, we would have been hard-pushed to have found any faults worth mentioning. The food was great with many choices, beautifully presented and served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Whilst North Walsham as a small town has not much to offer, we were recommended a day trip on the nearby Broads, which only served to enhance our entire experience....if that is possible. My wife and I thought we had died and gone to heaven. If you visit the area miss the Beechwood at your peril if only for a meal.

A group of eight of us came for three nights, without really knowing the area and were overwhelmed by the quality of the hotel and the amazing hospitality and standard of service. The food was exceptional and of a consistently high standard. Much of it was local and there was plenty of choice. There were so many special touches that just kept us all saying how
Iucky we were to be in such a great hotel with such lovely owners. We found the location perfect for all the things we wanted to do in the area and will be hard-pressed to find anywhere nearly as good for our reunion next year.

We only stayed for one night over the Easter break whilst we were visiting friends in Norfolk. We were very happy with our brief experience of the Beechwood, with our 6 year old daughter and old dog! On our arrival, a lovely young man greeted us in the car park to take our bags and was very welcoming, even stopping to pat the dog and made us feel very at home. Our room was beautiful, huge and light with a four poster bed, sofa and lots of room. The bathroom was stunning, with a stand alone bath and separate shower and luxurious products. We were offered a complimentary cream tea, which we turned down as we were late arriving, and we spent a very pleasant early evening enjoying the room and the sunny views from the huge sash windows. Dinner was a very grand experience, beautiful food prepared by an excellent chef, but perhaps all a bit late and drawn out for our tired daughter. The only criticism was a lack of atmosphere in the dining room, perhaps some background music would drown out the hushed conversation and chinking cutlery? On returning to our room, our daughters bed still had not been prepared as promised, but this was quickly rectified, and a good nights sleep was had by all. I normally find hotels to be much too hot, and occasionally noisy for decent sleep, but this was neither. A fantastic breakfast followed, with good choice, and local sausages on the menu. All in all a superb, relaxing stay, with all our needs catered for, and dog and child made to feel welcome also. We shall most definitely return!

Had a 1 night stay here which included a 4 course meal and a glass of champagne as part of the deal.
The room was lovely and clean with a comfy bed and a really powerful shower.
The meal was just superb! The chef here really knows his stuff and it was very busy. The service was excellent.
Beautiful gardens too which looked good in the April sunshine.
About 20 mins from the beach with a trip to Horsey gap the highlight where we saw hundreds of seals. The owner of the hotel recommended this place to us.
All in all one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at!

We were very well looked after from the offset, from the young man who came to greet us in the car park to take our luggage to the extremely friendly owners & well mannered waiting staff who were never without a smile. Food was absolutely amazing! Our room was a small double but was clean, comfortable & the Victorian bathroom style was a nice touch.
