“This is a 'must stay' hotel; despite those unstealable, fiddley cost hangers”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Lindsey and Don of the Beechwood Hotel in North Walsham take a real interest in their customers and enjoy making them feel welcome and fulfilling their needs. After a warm and efficient welcome I next met those fiddley and inconvenient, unstealable coat hangers that leave the ring behind on the rail. Does anyone like them ? Do customers really steal coat hangers ? I also dislike those old fashioned wardrobes that are too narrow for the abovementioned horrible hangers which have to rest at an angle….. ugh. Despite this, fairness dictates that I must award The Beechwood very high marks indeed in every other department. Dinner and breakfast were a real treat; service was charming and prompt; the towels are great and the garden is a joy.

Booked a late get away and looked on here for somewhere well rated in Norfolk, on arrival tea and scones, upgraded to luxury room, super friendly owners and the food-amazing!
Sat table away from a well known British actor so you know this please is good!
Famed for there food, the garden is beautiful also and if your an Agatha Christie fan you will be staying at her fave retreat back in the day..
Will return...:-)

We stayed at the Beechword Hotel for 2 nights. The first impressions were good and we were met at the door by two members of staff. Bags were taken to our room and we were advised that complimentary tea and scones were to be served when we were ready. This we took in the most beautiful garden in the sunshine! What a start to the weekend.
The hotel is immaculately clean, the bed linen of high quality and all other accessories and amenities are in perfect working order. The staff are very helpful. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, with a choice of haddock, kippers, eggs benedict, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs as well as fruit and cereals, fruit juices and a full cooked breakfast.
The treatment we received was excellent, we would definitely return.

I have had the pleasure of staying away in some very nice hotels whilst on business and this one is right up there amongst the best of them. The room was excellent I did have one of the superior rooms and it was wonderful. Bed and bedding wonderfully soft, bath with separate bath and shower, large room with plenty of space and room to work. The evening meal was superb and here is the rarity very often in places where the evening meal is superb the breakfast is a huge let down, well not this place as the breakfast was very good too. All in all cant wait to go back.

We have just returned from Beechwood. From the moment of being met in the car park to the tester bed (room seven), roll top bath and all the traditional fixtures and features this stay was really quality. Others have mentioned the little touches and then remained discrete about what they are so I will hold true to this too. I will mention though that a trip to the downstairs loos are well worth it and if you are caught giggling you might be invited to look at the artwork in the gents too ;)

The staff are all excellent and the menu based on largely local foods is superb, meeting the chef after the meal a good touch too. I am sure we will be back!

Room Tip: Delighted to have been unexpectedly upgraded at no extra charge, very pleased with the room that we...

We have just returned from our weekend stay at the hotel. We were a group of 10 couples from the Ipswich Wolsey Rotary club staying for our annual walking weekend. What a fantastic weekend we all had. Lindsay and every one of his staff could not have been more friendly and helpful on every account.

The food was outstanding, great choice, suberb presentation, served everytime by excellant staff. Great choice of wine. The added special touches were really appreciated (I don't want to give it away what the special touches, were as that would spoil it for others visiting, but trust me it was lovely) Breaksat was equally as good, with so much choice.

We stayed in the house next door in the Ramworth room, which is all part of the hotel, wow is all I can say, our room was wonderful, so many little extra features. The bed was so comfortable, the decor was top class and the shower and bath were both wonderful. Even Moulton Brown compilentry products.

Whilst most of the Rotarians enjoyed an 8 mile walk, three of us ladies enjoyed a relaxing morning in the wonderful gardens of the hotel.

Thank you so much Lindsay and all your staff for making us feel so welcome and running such a wonderful hotel.

I am sure many of will return Thank you.

Room Tip: Our room Ramworth, was excellant in the house next door. Just 4 rooms in the house with exclusive us...

....conjured by the owners Don & Lindsay, not forgetting their well chosen staff.. The words, class, style, panache and many more all come to mind. We are a group of friends who met there for a short break and we were unanimous in that had had we been hotel inspectors, we would have been hard-pushed to have found any faults worth mentioning. The food was great with many choices, beautifully presented and served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Whilst North Walsham as a small town has not much to offer, we were recommended a day trip on the nearby Broads, which only served to enhance our entire experience....if that is possible. My wife and I thought we had died and gone to heaven. If you visit the area miss the Beechwood at your peril if only for a meal.
