We stayed here with our little boy (19months) and our dog for our first getaway as a family on our own.
And what a lovely break it was - the cottage is definitely quirky, but has lovely decor and quickly helped us feel very relaxed and at home.
The garden really is beautiful, although the weather wasn't too kind to us both dog and toddler managed to enjoy it and I could see had it been warmer me and my wife would have enjoyed sitting out there in the evening with our well earned wine!
The layout is quirky but really makes the most of the space available, such that the dining area and lounge felt nice and spacious, the lounge in particular being very cosy.
The stairs are fairly steep, but still manageable with a squirming child in our arms. Upstairs we ended up giving the lovely master bedroom to our little boy as the stairs open into the other room area, however the pullout bed in there was more than comfortable, and the lockable stair gate was a good idea as he could wander round safely while we got ready.
Location wise - it's just across the road from the North Norfolk Railway line station, much to my little boys delight! We could hear the trains from the cottage and walk to them in a couple of minutes. Walking down to the beach was less than 10 minutes by the time we'd pottered on down there with the buggy.
For visiting all the other locations, we were essentially just behind the main coast road, so great access to get anywhere else you wanted to head to.
The questions you always ask yourself is, would you stay again? And we most definitely would, although i'd try not to let the dog/toddler combo break a cup and plate again - sorry about that!
Last thing to add - the management contact for the cottage was very friendly, when we arrived the (brand new!) travel cot was set up for us and made up with bedding on. It's little touches like that which really set it apart.
Wondeful little place to stay. Very conveniently located. Your own, sweet little private cottage close to the sea and charming little town. Would love to go back.
We stayed at Bodham to Beijing for 3 nights over new year . We loved it ! The cottage is cute and quirky - beautifully decorated with a very original sense of style. We loved the Christmas decorations and the personalised gingerbread house left as a welcome gift along with milk in the fridge. It felt like we were staying in some ones house as opposed to a holiday let . The kitchen was better equipped than my own ! Very secure garden , so had no worries about our dog and very well located being opposite the station and about 5/10 mins from the centre of Sheringham. would highly recommend .
Had a wonderful stay at this quirky little cottage. The extras on arrival of croissants and flowers were very thoughtful. Very comfortable beds and gorgeous decor throughout. The garden was also pretty. A great location for exploring and lovely not to have to rely on the car as the bus and train services are excellent. Thank you.
this was a delightful little cottage, with lots of quirky features. Very comfortable. Great decor. Everything you need.
It feels a bit churlish when the owner has clearly put in a lot of effort to make the place welcoming and practical but the one reservation I have is that the stairs are steep and narrow. Getting suitcases up to the bedrooms is quite a challenge for a less able person - and also the bathroom is downstairs, which isn't great if you need to go to the loo in the night. so I would say that it is probably not ideal for older people.
Another 'positive' is that Sheringham is a great place to base - a traditional family seaside town.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.
Lovely cottage and perfect for a family or couple to stay in. I love the way the cottage has been decorated and the care and attention to detail that has been used when picking the furniture and decorative items.
The garden is beautiful with mature plants and peaceful place to relax and have a coffee if you want to get away from the bustle of town.
The kitchen is really well equipped with everything you could need and their and hundreds of DVDs to choose from if you have a rainy day or just need a quiet evening in front of a film.
Great location for Sheringham shops and seafront and a huge bonus to find somewhere so central with off street parking.
5* from my family and we look forward to visiting again.
