We were looking for somewhere to eat in Sheringham and landed perhaps upon an obvious choice in this place.
Despite its appearance from the outside the pub is wetherspoonsesque and were it not for the seaview and balcony imagine it wouldnt be open long.
We had 6 very average ' microwave' meals in quite unclean surroundings. Unlike wetherspoons it pretends to be something it isnt and certainly isnt cheap.
Place was plagued with flies and couldnt see any evidence of the bar being wiped in a while!
Dont be fooled - it isnt a private venture and the local chippie will do you a better meal.
probably ok for a drink with the view but unkept cash cow for an individual or organisation - not a 'local' pub where you'd go back
avoid....there is much better around you.

This hotel was superb, right on the sea front lovely food breakfast was out of this world. We had the suit which was very roomy right outside our door was a sun terrace which we used could not fault this place at all. Will go back without a doubt.

Don't get me wrong the place has been done up lovely compared to what it was but sadly the recent visit was laden by the owner's arguments and drinking most of the profits themselves. Completely not child friendly and very unprofessional! If your going to run an establishment then please think about the people bringing you a profit! I don't expect to take my child to an establishment and then have to listen to the staff swearing and arguing.

Went into this Pub to fortify ourselves with food before attending the North Norfolk Railway Beer Festival on 20 July 2013. We got there at noon and not too busy but by 1.00 pm there was not a table to be had. I had really good Battered Haddock and Chips, the chips were beautiful, crispy on the outside and soft inside. My wife choose a special of Chicken in a garlic sauce which she enjoyed immensely. I followed my main with a Lemon sponge pudding which came with lashings of custard. It was one of the best Pub meals we have tasted and we would certainly go again when next in the area.

I haven't stayed in the hotel for several years, but it has recently been 'done up' & the looks have much improved. Went to eat there on a beautiful sunny day last Sunday, 6th July; it was very busy in Sheringham, due to the Potty Festival. Managed to get an outside table overlooking the beach, and ordered lobster salads. They were to die for! Succulent fresh lobster, beautifully presented, with a varied salad. Only slight complaint was that it was served with a very sweet honey dressing; but that came in a seperate jug, so didn't need to use it.
The other food that came out looked good also, Sunday lunches, burgers etc.
It is right at the bottom of the High Street, but certainly worth the trek down!

We were able to get a room in the last minute and I would reconsider staying again if I was in the area. The staff we met were friendly and check in was efficient. The room was comfortable although the mattresses were rather soft for my liking - still slept though! Free wifi; parking is refunded to guests staying overnight.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Duncan - very steep and narrow staircase to get to the room.

We stayed in room 2, Duncan, a twin room with a sea view. Excellent central location. Car parking is nearby, you pay £5 per 24 hours and the hotel reimburses you. Comfy, low set beds, wall mounted TV and en suite, all recently refurbed to a fair standard. Electric shower was a little quirky.

From the moment we walked through the pub door to check-in until we left, we were made really welcome. The staff are so friendly and helpful, it really was a pleasure being there.

The standard pub fare was not our kind of food although it looked well cooked and presented. Lots of families dining there. Fish & mushy peas were spot on. We cannot recommend the breakfast enough. The well coooked, full English sets you up nicely for a days coastal walking, quality local sausages and plenty of other local ingredients, all cooked to order and served by the charming Matthew.

The real ales were all on tap and Daniel the barman knew his stuff. Nectar!

Loved the place and we will return.

Room Tip: The stairs might be tricky for the less mobile as it is a lovely old building.
