“Fantastic B and B”

What a lovely find, warm reception on arrival, warm cosy bar.
I booked a single room as I was travelling for business, I wasn't disappointed, spotlessly clean, very comfy bed. Can't recommend highly enough.

Lovely comfortable place to stay. Excellent breakfast again and lovely hosts. previous reviewer who called it just a guest house doesn't know what they are talking about: I have stayed in room 5 twice now and the traffic is really just a murmur. Regarding the wildlife - don't book a country hotel then! Speaking as a lone traveller it is comfort to me to know that the hosts are keeping any eye on who is coming and going. After all it is their home too and they have every right to keep an eye out.

I personally cannot fault it.

We arrived late in the afternoon without a booking, and were warmly welcomed. Our room was just lovely, very comfortable and clean. We were made a coffee and delicious home made cake, which was very much appreciated after a long drive. Walked a short walk into town for dinner. Breakfast was delicious and very promp. Loved the house and grounds. This is our 4th trip to the UK from Australia and this is one of the better places we have stayed.

Your heart doesn't leap on approach, confronted with worn out Tarmac drive, weeds sprouting from the guttering and flaking pointing in the bricks. BUT the welcome is very affable and warm and mine hosts are always on hand ? Too much, such that every coming and going is acknowledged. Our bedroom was large and shabby and the ensuite was a dark corridor with tiny alcoves for a washbasin and shower. It felt like a mushroom going into its cave. My husband and I couldn't fit in there together. One in one out!
The breakfast is to order and good cooked food ' though we had very burnt toast without apology. The decor is in quiet decline with the artex covered in insipid pale emulsion. There is no dining in the evenings, in spite of the sign outside advertising dining. This we learnt was for pre-ordered large groups such as weddings. This meant either going out to restaurants or taking food to the bedroom.
The television was very small and sited so high we could barely see what was happening.
This is categorically a B and B and bears no eesemblence to an hotel in spite of a decent bar area.
A bit of a surprise after other trip advisors reviews.

Room Tip: Room 5 was noisy and afflicted by serious bird song from 4.30 am and all outside noise sailed up to...

I was in Swaffham to visit an elderly relative, and staying in such a lovely, comfortable hotel was a real bonus. I arrived in Swaffham on the bus from Norwich, and the hotel was just a short walk away, so it is not essential to have a car.
The owners gave me a warm welcome and I felt very much at home in their beautifully refurbished Georgian property. My room was nice and spacious, and had all mod cons, plus a comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and featured local produce. It is served in the old billiard room, with access to a sunny terrace outside. There is quite a collection of tradional pub games available in the bar area to keep you entertained.

Room Tip: I had room 5, a spacious twin-bedded room. I was aware of noise from cars passing on the road nearby...

Felt comfortable and at home immediately here. Everything you need and a comfortable and spotless room. Lovely breakfast with proper poached egg. Good hot shower and all toiletries provided if you need them. Nice soft towels.

Will be back later in the year.

Your sat nav will get you straight to this hotel so no worries there and there's ample parking.
I would describe this place as a guest house rather than a hotel or b&b. It's an old family home converted for guest purposes but does have a nice little lounge if you fancy a pint (although the beer wasn't that good) or something a bit stronger.
Breakfast was nice if a little on the slim side (1 slice of bacon, 1 sausage only) but there are no evening meals served but as you are literally 5 minutes walk from the town centre, that's not much of a problem. The town has plenty of shops and a few places to eat.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and the bathrooms are very well kitted out and appear to have been refurbished recently. The shower took the first layer of skin off just as a good shower should. If the rooms were equipped with the same light, modern styling, I might have been tempted to give more than 4 stars, but the decor was a bit old fashioned for my liking.
I will say that the service was excellent. I was greeted at the door the instant I walked in and had my case carried to my room for me. Whenever we came downstairs, the owners were there to see if we needed anything and were very friendly in every dealing with us.
The Best Western George Hotel is not farfrom this place, but I bet you don't get the personal touch you get at this place and we need a bit more of that every now and then.
