A touch of nostalgia with good food provided by an efficient staff. Some fascinating memorabilia.

This place is such fun with its memorabilia and its atmosphere. We came with party of 30 and enjoyed lunch in the railway carriage restaurant. There is a wealth of history here where we could easily spend several happy hours.

This beautifully restored and preserved old station is still in daily use (on the Norwich - Ely - Cambridge line) but is also a museum and delightful railway-themed cafe (appropriately called 'Brief Encounter'). The station is only minutes walk away from the centre of Wymondham (pronounced 'Wyndham' in Norfolk speak) which is itself a historic small market town with a fine medieval Abbey, a Market Cross, and streets of lovely old houses and cottages. From a lane past the Abbey, a halt on the old branch line has the preserved Mid-Norfolk Railway which goes to Dereham and beyond.
