Nice place, friendly staff and lovely coffee and carrot cake. The Full English breakfast some people near were having looked excellent. They do evening meals now on a Friday and Saturday but have not tried them myself. Feel it is probably more of a daytime venue.

I went for lunch with friends and loved the decor, ambience and quirky setting before we even ordered.

Friendly efficient staff suggested that the chef would cater for my 3 year old off menu which I thought was a nice touch.

Soups and cakes were all delicious, well made and good value.

I can't fault this place, please support this quirky independant bistro!

The Station Bistro is more good cafe than restaurant in its simple decor and atmosphere. That said, the food is well prepared and ingredients fresh, though when we were there for lunch two of the four dishes of the day were no longer available. I had excellent plaice, which was simply grilled and very fresh. Service is pleasant and friendly. There are two rooms: one, which we used, was presumably the old station cafe; the other is a converted railway carriage. My in-laws enjoyed the experience too. Worth a visit for honest cooking and a setting a bit out of the ordinary. And you can watch the trains go past as you eat!

We made this 45 minute journey after having watched Great Railway Journeys. Although we only stayed for tea & cakes (cakes are worth any amount of travel), it is was well worth it. A smashing little place that takes you back to another era. To have completed that image it would have been a good idea for the staff to have been dressed accordingly. Well worth a visit and the staff were very friendly.

We have been here previously, but the bistro had not been open on a Friday evening. After a day out in Cambridge by train, we just happened to notice that the bistro is now open on Friday and Saturday evenings so we called in by chance and were pleased to be welcomed by friendly waitresses offering us a seat in either the railway carriage themed room or the larger dining room. Having eaten in the railway room before, we opted for the dining room - a nicely set out room with fresh flowers on every table - so that we could watch the trains and activity on the station. The food and service were very good and the prices were reasonable. A bistro with a difference - not something you would normally expect to find on a small railway station.
