This was the second year we had spent a weekend at this site with several other families and kids between 6 and 16. The pitches are large with electric hook ups. You get a real feeling of being in a forest under the tall trees. The two shower blocks are both clean and have plenty of hot water, the new one just more spacious and with a free (not 50p) hair dryer (woo hoo!!!). The sea is down 50 wooden steps across a pebbly beach. Swimming was lovely although a bit sporting at high tide when the waves have a tendency to throw you over - young children take care.
A well stocked shop offers all the essentials including a daily paper (if you order the day before) and there is bike hire. (Check your bike before you go, some are in better condition than others)
The children's playground is modern and varied plus there's a games room with a pool table and done board games. Wifi in the bar is pretty good.
We were hoping to eat on the Sunday in the restaurant but were told it was a barbecue. I think it may have escaped the kitchen that campers tend to spend every night barbecuing and don't really feel like yet another burger when they choose to eat out. But we'd been at the campsite for two nights, eaten all the food, had no choice. It was awful. Cheap burger or cheap sausage. Nothing else. No salad, no vegetarian option ( complete surprise when this was requested although they did throw some leaves together for us). The only good thing was that they only charged us £2 each. This may be an easy option for the kitchen but it was a disappointment for us and was a low point in an otherwise brilliant weekend.

Thank you for your review. Cliff House is a superbly located and is a fab place to camp and enjoy the countryside just outside the entrance! I agree with your comments with regard to the sausages and burgers which were cheaply priced at £2, they weren't meant to be the main meal selection rather than an evening snack as lunch time the Carvery was excellent! After that night we changed sausage and burger supplier I think customers would rather pay a bit more and get a bit better! The burgers inside the restaurant on our A la Carte menu are homemade and nothing like the ones on the BBQ that night! Apologies once again I pride myself on honest replies to reviews so thank you once again. Steve

What a location! Right next to the beach, wonderful modern facilities with baking hot showers, alongside lovely staff at reception and at the bar (lots of Adnams beers). Would certainly recommend it, good value too.

This was a birthday treat by Sticky as we had previously seen the site while visiting NT at Dunwich heath. We were both very impressed with the cleanliness and quality of the shower blocks and toilets. The staff were helpful and friendly. The site was well presented and clean. The only down side is that they allow group bookings. We had a lovely pitch close to the reception but next to us was a large family/friends group. Unfortunately they weren't considerate at all and were noisy until 0130. They were asked by the site warden to keep the noise down at 0030 but continued. They even drowned out the wedding that was on. We would return but would reconsider if near a large group.

Thank you for your honest review. It was unfortunate to be located near a noisy group, sometimes the excitement of being away on holiday sends common sense out the window. It is certainly not a problem that is common here so massive apologies and we look forward to welcoming you here again in the future. Since taking over this park 14 years ago we have improved the facilities immensely, shower blocks, bar and we are very passionate in trying to get the right balance so all customers enjoy their holiday here. Many thanks Steve

Having heard there was going to be a wedding held here, we thought a visit would be a good idea to see if this would be a suitable venue for a future booking. Lovely kept grounds which is a wonderful start. Obviously the place was busy with the wedding guests that all looked divine. The decor was minimal but that was probably down to the wedding party instructions. Plenty of bar staff to start with but they dwindled down and then a young man appeared. He was a little rude to customers in my opinion, often people were waiting to be served whilst he chatted to the friendly female staff. Some of the girls were unsure of the drinks required and when asked him for assistance he had an 'that will do' attitude to measures and such. When asked for a coffee he replied after a big sigh, that he could do it this time but it would stop at 10pm so make the most of it - it was only 9.20pm. When asked for a water, he plonked the bottle on the bar and offered no glass, no ice and no lemon. Guests that were enjoying tequila shots left their spent lemon slices on the bar, which remained there for some considerable time, creating a treat for the flies before he cleaned it up. It would have been nice to see the bar wiped down instead of the drips becoming little pools of sticky mess.
Four out of the five cubicles in the ladies were empty of loo roll. 3 times I asked for help before this was sorted, the ladies were having to 'drip dry' which is disgusting, especially when all in their lovely wedding attire.
The atmosphere was great, the music was fantastic, particularly the band. I am not sure if this band comes with a recommendation with a wedding package, but they ought to.
Friendly, happy and attentive female staff. Shame the same cannot be said about the chap behind the bar.
Perhaps a fully trained manager that knows their stuff should be employed here to tighten things up a little and bring this up to 100% - It would not take that much to do.

We had seen the varied reviews and decided to go with an open mind. We stayed off peak so the price was reasonable and the site quiet. The staff were all very friendly and we couldn't fault the pitch or the facilities. All were clean and well presented. We ate at the bar each night and the food was basic but tasted great and was good for the money. We enjoyed our stay so much we tried to book to come back but they were already fully booked!

We have just enjoyed a brilliant Bank Holiday weekend at Cliff House. 2 Adults, 3 Children & our Dog were treated to a lovely getaway with fantastic facilities. The shower blocks are immaculate and the site is brilliantly set out.
The children's play area was a hive of activity and the 12 Lost Churches venue is superb, the staff were extremely cheerful, friendly and helpful.

Just returned from a blissful week's birdwatching and stayed in Iken at Cliff House, a lovely little studio annex full of character (and apparently due for refurbishment).

Cliff House is ideally located for exploring this magical part of Suffolk and it is a beautifully tranquil retreat. Although I was staying on my own, I'm sure the holiday park is also ideal for families and larger parties.

The staff were all helpful and friendly including reception and shop staff. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to sample the restaurant/bar but most reviews I have read suggest it is good value for money.

Altogether highly recommended. I stayed here before back in the 80s and it is just as good if not better today!
