Had a lovely last minute weekend at Cliff House holiday park, reception ladies chatty and welcoming, nice bar and restaurant and staff very friendly, food good (usual pub grub - burgers, steak, chilli, scampi etc. ).
Pitches large and well kept, toilet/ shower areas good.
Lots of dogs and children on site but it was end of school holidays so busy and noisy but lovely to hear kids having fun playing outside.
Fab location to drive to lovely Southwold or Aldeburgh. Lovely shingle beach at bottom of steps of site.
All in all definitely recommend and we will be back!

Great campsite, surprised by some of the moany reviews on here! We just got back, and we had a great weekend there.

Right on top of the beach, pub and restaurant on site, good spacious clean hot showers, shop. Dunwich heath opposite for walks.

We will be returning for sure

Beautiful little site right by the sea. We could only intially book 1 night in our motorhome but the lovely Chris in reception helped us book a second night and found a space right next to our friends who were staying for a week. It was an enjoyable couple of days and our two children didn't want to come home so we have booked again (with the help of Chris to find us some available slots) to come back in 2 weeks time!

We stayed in the old sunken garden and the west field. The old sunken garden was more shadier than the west field but we loved both pitches. Pitches are very big and spacious. Very quiet at night. We got to hear the owls and see bats flying around too.

The 12 lost churches restaurant has lovely meals, can be busy but worth the wait.

We look forward to coming back in 2 weeks time.

2 night stay in our motorhome. Shower/toilet facilities excellent. We were put in North field which was quieter than the other areas, the only downside was that it was very shady. Overall would recommend. Lovely area and a dog friendly beach was a massive bonus.

Strengths:
-Location and proximity to beach which is a couple of minutes away from the steps to the beach.
-quiet campsite with lots of trees to shade and shelter under.
-small shop with essentials.
Points to progress on:
-work on the overall ambiance of the site- particularly the soulless bar which used to be the life and hub of the campsite.
-ensure signs for dogs on leads states that this is at ALL times-either this or review the ludicrously rigid system that is currently in place which means dogs are not allowed to be off the lead at ANY time or else you will be verbally attacked by staff beyond reason. Failing this ban dogs from the site completely. The continual rude, aggressive nature of the staff totally ruined my holiday.
-build an enclosure around the steps to the beach- firstly for safety; the steps are incredibly steep and a child or anyone could easily fall down these. Secondly, this would enable dog owners to safely unleash and leash their dogs when coming up from the beach and going down to it. This would also prevent dogs running onto the site and risking the unreasonable wrath of passing staff who are patrolling the area.
-ensure that designated pitches are suitable for camping with tents- the ground on our pitches was either to soft or too stony which made it nearly impossible to put the tent pegs in.
- address the temperature of the showers ( as has been pointed out by a number of reviews)- this was so scaldingly hot that it was impossible to immerse your body under the flow.
-ensure that original contracts and agreements are adhered to- I booked three pitches and realised when I got there that this was too many. I was told that this was because we had three tents. Our tents were three two man tents and the pitches were large enough to accommodate them by just using two ( which fell in line with the 4 metre gap between tents rule). I offered to sell back or even give the pitch away and was then hauled over the coals because I had paid too little in the first place apparently. I had booked this with the campsite in January and had all the relevant invoices etc on my email which stated this had been paid in full. I was told by the manager that the woman in the office was all for charging me extra- which I have been told would be illegal- and that I was lucky they weren't going to do this.

Overall impression- this site that I have been to on various occasions is no longer what it was. Yes it may have been awarded 5* but I would rather be somewhere with a human kindness
