“Very interesting museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

Visited this little museum whilst in Dunwich - very interesting, well presented and informative. We were amazed about the vast history of what was the 6th largest city in England in 1300s and now sadly mostly under the sea. Worth a visit.

“Informative - good video presentation”

Fills in the gaps in the story of what happened to Dunwich. Well worthwhile and thanks to the volunteers who run the museum. Interesting paintings on stairwell, and video presentation excellent.

“A little gem in Dunwich, famous for what's not there anymore!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2014

This tiny museum is in one of the cottages in Dunwich Village and is known as 'The Small Museum with a Big Story'. We were met by a guide who talked us through the meaning of the amazing model there which shows Dunwich as it was in C13th, an international trading port of probably 3,500 people. Now, due to coastal erosion, there are only about 65 left. Graphic photographs of the more recent cliff falls give an idea of the drama involved. Also explained was the resultant anomaly when about 14 voters were left with two members of parliament leading to political reform. So many stories. What a fascinating visit.

“Interesting, informative, essential viewing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

Recommended by friends, and not disappointed!

I had the upstairs to myself for a while so spent a few minutes trying on the hats ;) Fun even for a 37 year old!

Considering it's a small museum, it's one of the best I've been to. Very informative details of the formation and destruction of Dunwich. The lady who works there was really interesting to listen to as she told us about the history of Dunwich; the whole museum has been very professionally put together.

It is free admission, but please give a donation as it's worth it.

NB. There's a public loo just along the street near the entrance to a footpath.

The products for sale in the shop were very reasonably priced...very impressed.
