“Delicious Afternoon Tea! ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

Two glasses of Prosecco and lots of sweet and savoury choices beautifully presented! Staff were attentive and very friendly. Yummy scones, still slightly warm and very light. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we got to take home the food we didn't eat. Compliments to the chef and all the staff.

The owner of the hotel was an absolute pleasure to meet. He took on any constitutive criticism and made our stay perfect!! Cannot fault this hotel at all. We will be back within the next few months :)

We have been staying here since 1992- it is true that the Hotel needs to be upgraded in areas but I hear that it is being done. Our suite was lovely and spacious and kept very clean by the staff- no problems there.

All the staff are professional and friendly and actually take the time to speak to you like normal people- none of that plastic smile stuff.

Breakfast superb- all cooked to order and piping hot and fresh and served in the most fantastic dining room- all chandeliers- this Hotel is dated but very classy and well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Go for a suite- like the Bawdsey

Business stay for 1 night

Very nice hotel, very clean, lovely staff.

My room was very warm, I'd have loved air conditioning.

Don't hesitate to book here, nicely positioned with the railway station, town centre, sea front just a few mins away.

No hesitation of giving this place a thumbs up...

This was my 3rd business stay at this hotel and I love it. Room are large - could do with an upgrade in furniture but despite that you get little extras such as biscuits, bottled water and hot chocolate. Bed were comfy and the room was very clean. The food is extremely good value for money, (2 courses for £10) and absolutely lovely. The staff at this hotel are extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

It's always good to come back to the Orwell, feels like home. The service as always was very good, especially the lovely young man at the bar, who looked after me despite all the rowdier people demanding drinks. Maybe it was the grey hair! All the staff are very patient and tolerant of us 'racing folks'. The new breakfast layout is very good, as was the food itself, really set me up for a day's Hot Rod racing at Foxhall Heath Stadium, Ipswich. Thanks again to all.

Room Tip: Away from the kitchens.
