I like pub grub, and The Grosvenor has a typical pub grub menu. It looked as if much of the food came as pre prepared chilled, rather than being separately or individually prepared. I ate there twice, being persuaded to return a second time by a friend who seemed quite keen to sample the menu further. In fairness the grub was fine. On the Sunday I had a roast. The veg left a bit to be desired, but the beef was very tender and the spuds and gravy very good. The next time I visited I had the steak and ale pie, and again it was well cooked, and very tasty. But the noise was excruciating. Large screen TVs with football being shown, attracted a large Sunday crowd who were enjoying their pints and the game. It was deafening. The TV was on full volume and the punters all very involved. Not my idea of an ideal eating environment. On the second visit we once again had footy, an FA Cup replay. Not quite so noisy, but hardly peaceful.
I know that there are loads of people who will love this, but it was just not for me. The food was not too bad regarding value, but the ambience, no, sorry, just awful
