“Suffolk. V. Norfolk”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

The other day it was my daughter birthday and she was on holiday in Suffolk, so on a day trip we left Norfolk and came and had lunch at the Crown at Snape . Five of us in total, two had the mushroom soup and the others had the pork terrine, both were very good ,three of us picked off the dishes of the day skate wings and one had the cod and chips ,i was surprised to see that as the rest of the food was of a high standard that the chips were not hand It great to see the Crown is setting a standard that sould be takien on board by all pubs and that is to use local meats and fresh foods, also a good selection of local beers on sale, add this to frendly staff and you can have a winner, Norfolk has many good and bad places to eat out, well done the Crown and well done Suffolk ..

This pub has a wonderful atmosphere, fabulous home-grown and home-cooked food, and lovely, friendly staff. Our en-suite bedroom was gorgeous, full of character, with a comfy bed and a spotless bathroom. Perfectly positioned for Snape Maltings. Would highly recommend for both eating and staying, and we'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: We've only stayed in one, but would be happy to book another room.

We have been many times now but with the flood we were a little worried for them, however Theresa and Gary have come back fighting and the food is now almost better if that is possible! Local meat and produce mostly grown on site with a lovely cosy atmosphere. They have worked very hard and transformed the pub. The new bar is superb and the rooms are lovely. Highly recommended. We have even purchased some of their lovely photographs.

Stopped off at this pub on the way home from The Swan,Southwold, had a good lunch, John, Lily, Cameron and Alfie, these being husband, grandchildren and English setter dog. We were all made very welcome, we ate in the bar with Alf. He loved it as he was fussed over. Cameron loved the chocolate sorbet, dark and a bit bitter, better than ice cream, home made. a pleasant experience.
The whole place was super clean and fresh. Found out when we got home and looked the place up, they were flooded December 2013, and only reopened the day we visited.

We saw this pub on anglia news following its re-opening after being flooded during the winter storms. The owners have worked hard to get their business going again and there are several photos on the walls of how bad the flooding was.
It looks like their efforts are paying off. The pub was fairly busy for a Friday lunch with several tables reserved. I would definitely recommend booking in the evenings and weekends.
This is an excellent family run pub that uses local produce on a reasonably priced menu. The food is of a very good quality and there is a good choice of beers and wines.
The service is excellent. We would definitely return.

I have had lunch at this pub several times and the food is always good and interesting. The menu is changed regularly, staff and management are friendly and helpful. The bar is festooned wth prize rosettes won by the owners' very special pigs.
I am writing this now because the Crown apparently suffered badly in last weeks' floods, losing 28 turkeys, presumably waiting for Christmas, though other livestock was saved and the village rallied round to help. But there were other losses and the bar and kitchen were under water, so once they are under way again this pub will need your help.

We met with friends for lunch here on a Saturday and had a most delicious lunch. The pub is rustic inside and friendly and was fairly buzzing with people, it was warm and friendly. The staff were also friendly. I had a light lunch of pigeon breast with black pudding and lentils which was very tasty, and others had fish and chips and sausages which are made on site. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and felt well satisfied afterwards.
