Welcoming ambience, superb beers, and excellent food. Unusually for a luxury item, the lobster lunch was not only delicious, but really good value. Truly memorable.

“would have to work a lot harder anywhere else !”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

the beer doesn't have far to travel, so its always top notch, but the fish and chips should also be , and it isn't !
would be an idea perhaps to encourage more people in then dogs as well.

“Gets busy! What a surprise so get in there early”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

Great place for soaking up the real Southwold atmosphere. Lots of locals there not just holiday makers and a bonus - (dogs are welcome!) really good food are not outrageous prices for the area - head for the rear garden on a summer night or take your pint of Ghost Ship and sit on the benches on the front pavement. Just watch Southwold pass by!

“I may just move in!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

I've been to the Lord Nelson on both my visits to Southwold and it hasn't disappointed. Honestly it's just a great pub serving great beer (Adnams, naturally) and fresh, simple food. It gets VERY busy, not surprising given it's location right by the sea and in the middle of town, but make the effort. If I lived in Southwold it would be my local.
