Decided last minute to take family (2 kids, 2 Dogs) here last night the 14th March, we stayed in one of the rooms in hotel grounds last time but this time stayed in flat above the Adnams wine shop called Pinkneys and it was very pleasant, everything you needed to hand, great location to beach and the Staff at the Swan were most helpful from initial booking to departure, highly recommend.

Thank you

First time visit to this hotel for a two night break. There were four of us plus a two year old. Both Superior rooms very clean and lovely views overlooking the square. Bathrooms could do with a little tlc though. We ate in the dining room on one night and the bar in the other. Both evenings excellent food. All staff brilliant - out of their way to help and having a toddler they couldn't do enough for you regarding food. Absolutely first class. All very pleasant and would definitely go back as Southwold a lovely place to visit.

Room Tip: Room 1 lovely

We are regular visitors to Southwold and have often had after noon tea here, however only once before have we been able to afford to stay in the hotel, we booked 2 nights including dinner. Firstly when we arrived we promptly got checked in, the service was friendly and we were directed to our room which was overlooking the garden. The room itself was excellent, large, spacious and tastefully furnished, however the shower/bath door was stuck which meant it was difficult to reach the taps, and some cushions were stained, however the next day they were clean and we had been given new cushions. The first night we had dinner in the crown hotel (the swans sister hotel) which was delightful. Breakfast the next morning was perfect, we couldn't fault it, staff were friendly and always seemed happy to help, there was a wide selection of choices and the room was beautiful overlooking the market place. The hotel itself is in the perfect position for everything, there are great views both front and back to the lighthouse, the market place and the sea (well almost). On the second night we had dinner in the swan which once again was impeccable, staff were friendly and attentive which more than made up for the slight delays. We couldn't fault the food at all the menu was incredibly varied and there was something for everyone, most importantly it was immaculately presented and delicious. Breakfast the next morning was divine and the checkout process was friendly and swift. we enjoyed getting a discount at some local stores and had a wonderful experience. My only quam is that it would have been nice to have wifi in the bedrooms and breakfast room instead of just in the residents lounge as the town itself has no 3G. Overall a wonderful stay in a lovely hotel which I look forward to returning to in the near future. Thank you very much.

Room Tip: garden rooms are best in summer, for beautiful birds and flowers. inside rooms are best in winter as...

We had a 2 night break at the Swan recently with another couple. It was an offer of 2 night’s dinner bed and breakfast at £149 per night in a standard room. Overall we had a very good time (the weather was great, which always helps) and the break was very good value. A couple of negatives: on the first day our hot food order at breakfast got ‘lost’ so despite waiting staff telling us ‘it was on the way’ – it was in fact, not. It took almost an hour to get this sorted. With many apologies we had a small reduction to the bill as compensation. I was also disappointed to discover the Dinner menu was the same on both nights. The daily specials were different each night (one starter and one main course) but as the menu was fairly limited, I ended up choosing food I was really not that bothered about. However, the cream tea my husband and I had one afternoon was really top notch, with warm homemade scones and a huge pot of tea.

Apologies for the mix up at breakfast and if the menu choices weren’t to your taste – taking advantage of the excellent dinner bed and breakfast offer I am pleased that overall you had a good time.

The Swan is a lovely hotel, (part of the Adnams chain) the food is wonderful, the rooms well appointed and well looked after and most of all the staff are so friendly. The Adnams Brewery is is at the heart of the town, the hotel reflects how important that is.

Just returned home from a one nighter last minute stay in this ideal hotel to celebrate my birthday.
Our room was lovely (25), nice and large with a huge comfy bed. Staff were very polite and helpful especially as my wife left her hand bag in the bar area all afternoon and it was returned safe and sound. The evening meal was fine dining and well presented with no long waits between courses.
Thanks for a perfect stay.

Stayed in one of the Superior rooms over the weekend facing out onto the Market Place. It was lovely, classic English old style hotel with loads of atmosphere. The staff were welcoming on reception. The room had a four poster and the bed was really comfortable. Nice old style bathroom with all the amenities you could want. It looked as though the room had recently been refurbished and you could not fault the comfort. We also had booked dinner in the restaurant, again a lovely room with large sash windows facing out to the street. There was ample choice on the menu plus some specials as well. Polite efficient staff, well presented food, superbly prepared and great tasting and an interesting, varied and quite extensive wine list. What more could you want? Breakfast the next morning was equally superb and very relaxed affair. Not a cheap weekend but a memorable one. Certainly worth repeating. A lovely classic, well run English hotel with atmosphere!

Room Tip: We love the rooms in the main building
