“Lovely stay at Northcliffe”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Southwold is a beautiful little town, and Northcliffe is the perfect place to base yourself. Right on the seafront, a brief 5 min walk to the pier in one direction and town in the other direction. Karen and Nigel were great hosts and the breakfast was lovely. We stayed in the Beach Hut room and being awoken to the sound of the sea every morning was blissful. Highly recommended!

We have just returned from a four night break at the Northcliffe. We stayed in the Sunrise room which had a fantastic sea view. Karen and Nigel were great hosts and could not do enough to make sure we had a great stay. The B&B is very well positioned and you could easily walk to town and beach. The whole experience was extremely relaxing and we will definitely return. J & C

After a four hour drive it was a relief to park the car outside Northcliff and leave it for four days without worrying.
Karen and Nigel welcomed us to their beautiful home with a greeting second to none.
After settling into the Pier Room we enjoyed testing the comfort of the massive sofas in the guests' lounge.
Like so many before us we enjoyed the food and ambience at The Nellie in town as our evening meal.
A comfortable night was followed by delight at the sea view from our bedroom window. The small shower room held all we needed, including a complete selection of shower 'condiments'.
Nigel delivered the best scrambled eggs to accompany bacon and sausages as our choice from the list of full English options. Preceeded by fresh fruit and coffee the freshly prepared breakfasts could never be beaten.
When we returned after our first day out the room was as clean as could be and the coffee was supplemented with fresh milk.
Our four day stay was a restful and enjoyable experience.

We've just got home from 3 nights at Northcliffe in the beach hut room. This b&b was a great place to stay- fantastic location with sea views. The room was compact but well laid out and very clean with beds being made daily and bottles of water and tea/coffee topped up.
Karen and Nigel were great hosts- really friendly without being intrusive. Delicious breakfasts- fresh fruit and yoghurt and a perfectly cooked English breakfast. We would definitely stay here a again.

We stayed here for two nights over the May bank holiday and very much enjoyed our time. The room (Pier) was small but comfortable, it was clean and it had all the usual amenities. The owners serviced the room each morning, which I thought was a nice touch (given we were only there for 2 nights). The only downsides were the very small en-suite, and the lack of soundproofing (we could hear everything going on in the next room). The hotel is perfectly placed to walk anywhere you would want to go in Southwold, and whilst there is no parking, there was plenty of free street parking around and about (you just had to hunt for a space!). The breakfast was very tasty, you could choose what you wanted off of the hot menu and there were plenty of cereals/ fruit/ yoghurts to choose from as well. The owners were very helpful and welcoming, recommending places to eat and visit, and providing a wifi key (if you asked). Overall a pleasant stay.

We stayed 3 nights at the Northcliffe in May the weekend before the bank holiday. We can only describe it has a totally enjoyable experience from start to finish. The breakfasts were certainly amongst the best we have encountered anywhere, the room ( the Sunrise ) was spotlessly clean and spacious and the view from the bay window of Southwold seafront was breaktaking
We found the hosts Karen and Nigel to be very informative and charming.
Southwold and the surrounding area is very scenic and interesting - we took the walk along the coast to Walberswick, visited Aldeburgh, Thorpeness and Dunwich.
Early evenings were spent in good company in the Lord Nelson a lovely olde fashioned pub.
We certainly would return to the Northcliffe and Southwold tomorrow.

Room Tip: The view from the bay window of the Sunrise room is stunning.
