I have stayed here a couple of times and it is in a great location to walk into town. The best pubs are nearby, The Nelson, Sole Bay...Adnams shop and brewery...a perfect place to stop to explore all that Southwold has to offer. A small double room is SMALL but if you get a good deal, it's well worth it and the breakfast is very good indeed. I had the full English (Not an unusual choice) and the poached egg was perfect, the bacon tasty and the sausage local! Such a beautiful town to visit and The Blyth is a good choice to stay.

This was my second stay at the hotel, but ownership had changed since my last stay. Coincidently I had the same room, which had been updated with a new bed (very comfy) and new television. New owners were friendly and welcoming, food excellent as always. Short walk in to the main part of town, but close enough not to be a problem. Highly recommend.

Room tip: Room 6 has a balcony

The hotel seemed a little tired. However, our room was comfortable and the one our friends stayed in was comfortable too. Both had modern bathrooms.
The manager welcomed us and was very helpful with his knowledge of local places.
we had an excellent breakfast, a good varied menu and well cooked. There was fresh fruit and puréed fruit. The staff were friendly. This hotel is trying to raise standards and after the great breakfast we wished we had stayed there for dinner the previous evening.

Room tip: ask for one of the bigger rooms

The hotel is very easy to find as it is on the only main road into town on the left corner beside a mini roundabout at the junction with Pier Avenue. It is a nineteen twenties/thirties building with its own car park. We stayed for four nights, it is a popular place being quite full. They do a Buffet breakfast but included in the price is a range of different dishes cooked to order. The quality of the food was very good. the hotel is kept very clean, our room (No.6) had everything one would want or need ie flat screen TV (small), tea and coffee making with biscuits, bath with shower, plenty of hot water, lots of storage, a balcony with a table and chairs. Evening meals were very popular, we only had one dinner but the food was very good. The general state of decoration was looking a bit tired but this did not detract form the experience and we would stay there again. Incidentally it has in room wifi, not powerful but good enough for news and emails. No lift but staff carried our luggage to our room with no problems (we are in our mid seventies).

This was a good stay because i made the most of it not because the hotel was that great. Car parking awful.Welcome mediocre, The room (2) was ok, The facilties i couldn't fault,Cleanliness i couldn't fault. It is a bit out of town but not too far.Did not feel warmly welcome so chose to eat at The Red Lion instead of here. The bed was comfortable i slept well. Breakfast was fine i can;t complain about the taste of the full English it was good. Like i said a nice hotel if i still lived in the 90's. I can't pinpoint anything bad but then again i can't say it was good! Just mediocre.

Room tip: mm maybe try a different hotel
