Recently stayed here for a wedding and the venue, staff and food were fantastic, which is why it was a shame that little things let it down a bit. We were told the rooms would be available from 2pm, which was ok as the wedding was at 3pm. Unfortunately some of the rooms had not been cleaned from the previous guests and this resulted in a number of guests hurriedly getting changed in our room as we had fortunately stayed the night before. (Brides room ready & no problems there at all), Two of the rooms were subsequently 'cleaned' in 20 minutes, although dirty towels were left in one and neither of the rooms had been vacuumed, The stairway was also left very messy. We booked an additional room at short notice and were given the last available, a twin (No 5). this room is small, smelly from the kitchen and you have to have the curtains shut as it is opposite a corridor, however there was no hesitation by management in changing the next night to a nice room.
It was the general cleanliness that let it down, rooms not cleaned properly, toilets mucky, not cleaned around the loo, dusty shelves and sticky tables. And when we came down for breakfast both mornings, the place was a mess, with no attempt to clean up from the previous night. As i say, it was the little bits & pieces, because the staff were brilliant and very attentive, If these little issues were addressed, this hotel would easily attract a higher rating as I mentioned before the food, staff and location make for a superb wedding venue and all involved made the day such a brilliant wedding day for the bride & groom.
