Popped in for a late breakfast on a rainy bank holiday having checked out the reviews on here! We were not disappointed. Warm & bustling pub with a good atmosphere. We ordered bacon & egg sandwiches which came on lovely farmhouse granary bread with perfectly cooked crispy bacon - delicious! Friendly service, Good beer & nice coffee. Well worth a visit.

What a lovely pub and setting, I only had a sausage sandwich and chips but it was superb and they had a good election of beers on tap.

We're impressed that you have taken the trouble to write a review based on a sausage sandwich! But this really encapsulates what we try to be about - the bread is from a proper local bakery (Jack and Jill's at Ringmer) and the sausages from rare-breed pigs at the Free-Range Pig Co. (Framfield). If we can succeed in wrapping up that local quality raw-ingredient provenance with a welcoming local pub atmosphere then we're on the right track. And we're equally happy whether you're just having a drink or a slap-up meal. Thank you for your kind comments.

What a good Sussex country pub. I have popped by maybe half a dozen times. Good beer, great staff and a convivial atmosphere. Friendly.

Today they had a BBQ in the lovely sunny beer garden to compliment the always excellent menu.

They serve what I would call honest pub grub. Good value, nothing fancy, but just bang on every time. Recommended.

lovely country pub right beside the Lavender line in pretty village of Isfield.
Had a meal here after our trip on the Lavender line.
Great food and plenty of it too!
has some great real ales on draughft as well.
great selection on the menu and if your a pentioner and the food helping is too big you can get £2.00 knocked off the price of the menu with a smaller helping.
i would highly recommend this pub and the great food they serve.
certainly be coming back to this pub.

We've been to the Laughing Fish on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The food is very tasty and very well priced; the burgers, which are made by the village butcher are superb! It's the hub of the local community with lots of events. Quite simply this is how village pubs should all try to be!

We are very pleased that you enjoy it here at the Laughing Fish - thank you - thanks to all of you below - for your kind comments. Our aim has always been to keep it as the village pub, with all the attributes that implies, but at the same time to be genuinely welcoming to visitors and to provide the best quality cask ales and traditional, home-made pub food that we can. We're now also proud shareholders in Isfield Community Enterprise, a community benefit society which was created last year to buy the field behind the pub, so protecting its use for local village events - and it also has a small 5 van Certicated Location for the Caravan Club for which we manage bookings from the pub. We're all looking forward to a good summer this year!
