“Premier Inn Newhaven”

We arrived in the UK on the late evening ferry from Dieppe France. So bit tired and easily finding our way there. The hotel is ideally situated not so far from the ferry terminal area. Excellent for us as we needed an overnight stay before driving up to the north the next day. Nice reception, very courteous receptionist who was very helpful for looking after our car which was quite loaded with luggage. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable. Breakfast was in the pub next door, which was copious with a lot of choice.

Cost Data : Pre-booked and prepaid Fri / Sat nights (39/45 pounds respectively)

Normal high Premier Inn standards - notice the TV's are getting bigger which is good. Very convenient for Seven Sisters Country Park / Birling Gap / Beachy Head / Eastbourne and the walking on that part of the South Downs Way. The hotel is approached via the entrance road to Sainsburys so there is a supermarket on the doorstep (and petrol station). Adjoining pub restaurant.

We were given a room at the front overlooking the restaurant/hotel entrance. Friday night no problem, but on Saturday night, there were some over active revellers with challenged spacial awareness perception making an alcohol induced racket outside the restaurant until the early hours which disturbed our sleep. We mentioned this when we checked out, and without any hesitation, were offered that night's room cost back under their 'Good Night's Sleep Guarantee'. I would have preferred the good night's sleep but can't argue with the way they treat their customers. It won't stop me staying here again, but I will ask for a quiet room at the back next time !

Room Tip: See main text - ask for a room at the back if you like a quiet night's sleep.

Large quiet room (a welcome relief after the Paris Est Novotel where we had been staying) with plenty of space for me and 2 children aged 12 and 15. Gabriel at reception was warmly welcoming and got our stay off to an excellent start. Bathroom fully functional (again a contrast to France). A little hard to find, and the Costa machine was disappointingly out of action at breakfast time, but overall I would stay here again any day.

Rooms clean and comfortable, no A/C in room (not a big problem in UK), The Parking Lot was almost completely flooded after it rained.
Price varies a lot from day to day and depending when you book.
Buffet Breakfast is in Pub attached, it is Ok but you can do better in Seaford.

Well appointed rooms, clean and comfortable. Excellent value. The breakfast was good too.
However this was very much undermined by two gripes:
1. It was very difficult to find – it was in a retail estate with only a small generic sign to a hotel (not mentioning Premier Inn) . And even when having turned off the road at the right place (which we didn't do the first time) it was still difficult to find because it was out of sight behind a petrol station, and we saw no signs.
2. And for reception to be only reachable through 0871 numbers (and there were no phones in the room). I think this is a rip-off which shows contempt for their customers.
I understand this applies throughout Premier Inn.
I urge them to change to geographical numbers.

I Have stayed at this hotel quite a few times and have always found the hotel and services to be of a high standard, no faults there; but Oh Dear the central car park completely floods during heavy rain. This has been a problem for a long time now, maybe even since it opened and unfortunately no action appears to have been taken to remedy this situation. Being disabled I always use the disabled car parking area but on this occasion on our return during the evening it was completely full of vehicles as this area is nearest the entrance to the Inn and Restaurant. The central area which is also near to the two entrances was completely flooded and it was still raining. This resulted in me having to park at the far end of the carpark where there were still plenty of spaces left with the result that I had to walk the distance with difficulty to enter the Inn. I can also imagine that customers are also caught unaware's having parked in this central area and then having to paddle through 2-4 inches of water to get to their vehicle after a happy session in the bar.
After checking the vehicles as I walked past the Disabled area only One vehicle was displaying a Blue Badge.
It is time that this flooding problem was rectified as it can spoil an otherwise excellent stay at a reputable Inn and Restaurant facilities.

Room Tip: If rain is forecast avoid the central area facing the restaurant but please if not disabled do not p...

We have used this hotel many times when we are travelling backwards and forwards across the Channel because we know that it will be to a comfortable standard and a good rest between two days of driving can be found at this hotel. The prices do vary from day to day, being expensive if you don't book soon enough, and it does become totally full some nights. All of the staff are friendly and if you need something that is not in the room they are only too willing to help.

Still find that Premier Inn is behind the French hotels in only offering half-an-hour free Wi Fi as whereas we have unlimited free use here.
