What a lovely pub! Staff commendable and food very very good. Chef came out to see us, making this an even nicer experience. Best garlic bread with cheese I have ever had. Best fillet steak and best chips. We all had something different and every meal
a very high standard.

From the start we had good service, fitting us in for others Day seemed impossible, but they made it happen giving us a table for 5 0 clock ! Then when I realised we were one short ( I hadn't counted myself) they must have been tired and were obviously very busy, they accommodated this without making me feel like a fool ! ha ha. The decor in the Restaurant was lovely, bright and light and had a lovely atmosphere, and the menu was interesting and different-we were not dissappointed

We dined at the Flying Fish on Mothers Day, 2 grown up children, 2 mums and 1 dad, and all enjoyed a fantastic meal with very good attentive service from the time we walked through the door to the time we left some hours later. Our drinks orders were received with smiles and promptly delivered - our food orders were similarly taken and delivered in a timely friendly and efficient manner. All of the dishes delivered were extremely well cooked, tasty and of sufficient quantities. Congratulations to Nichola and her staff for providing an excellent meal experience on what is always a busy day in the catering world and for making the vast majority of Mums who ate there feel special. After many years working in catering we have always avoided eating out on the special occasions days such as Mothers Day - this year we broke that rule and are immensely pleased we did..........don't believe the vitriolic ( and poorly spelt) comments some have made here the Flying Fish is well worth a visit and you will not be disappointed. Hopefully those who have stated they were unhappy with the experience will take their custom elsewhere to somewhere more suited to their needs and leave this gem to those who can appreciate its value!

What a perfect day. Took the family and was shown to the restaurant after all being offered a drink from the bar. Three course menu was varied but not long and complicated and had good options for meat, fish and veg eaters. Starters for our table included the prawns with chilli, Broccoli and stilton soup and pate all of which was very good. Mains were roast pork with the trimmings, breaded chicken in white wine, bacon and mushroom sauce and stuffed peppers (veg option). Pork was tender for loin but retained some fat with the only gripe being some yorkies being darker in colour. The chicken and sauce was excellent and the stuffed peppers were very good (even the meat eaters tried and enjoyed!). Although not advertised, the helpful waitress made arrangements for my nephew to have a kids meal. He decided to have sausage and mash. It turns out the sausages are made especially for the pub using local ale and they were meaty and full of flavour. All desserts were great including tiramisu, spotted dick and custard and a huge slab of chocolate fudge cake.

Throughout the whole meal the staff were friendly and attentive and quickly dealt with any requests we had such as extra gravy. All the food was hot and brought out at a good pace with us not having to wait or feel rushed, despite both the bar and restaurants being full.
I would certainly recommend the flying fish and can only compliment the manager and staff on an excellent job, especially as it was clear to all they were running at full capacity.
I have booked to go back this weekend and am looking forward to trying the fillet steak and gourmet chunky chips!

It is always so difficult to please everyone all of the time but my mother in law of 86 and my youngest daughter had a super meal at The Flying Fish. The food was delicious and the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. We have been for lunch mid week and evening meals and the standard is always exemplary. The Manager is always welcoming and makes you feel at home. We will be back ! Thank you
