The Limes offers a perfect location to explore, Eastbourne, Brighton and the South Downs. Excellent commuter links to all attractions yet far enough away to escape the busyness.
Chris is the perfect host, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms a beautifully presented and the breakfast is outstanding. Thank you for going the extra mile. I would not hesitate in recommending fully The Limes.

Room Tip: Room 2 with its adjacent bathroom is spacious and beautifully decorated

I think I can only confirm the other reviewers' words. This is indeed a lovely house with great hosts. I stayed only for one night and enjoyed it. The room was tastefully decorated, had everything a traveller may expect and even more. Everything is immaculately clean. Apart of the most friendly hosts there are 2 cats and a dog.

Thank you, Chris and Rene!

We stayed at The Limes for one night and I must say it was absolutely perfect. We were in the area for the renewal of vows of our friends. We were welcomed on our arrival by Chris and he made sure everything was to our liking. I must say that the room we had was outstanding and it was all the little touches that made it without a doubt, the best B and B I've ever stayed at. The cleanliness of everything was meticulous...in fact during our whole stay I could fault nothing.
We got to meet Rene at breakfast the next day and we served a perfect breakfast ,with homemade bread and jams,as well as croissants and a full English. There was also plenty of other foods available if you wanted something different. All in all I cannot recommend The Limes highly enough. Chris and Rene have created a 1st Class B and B, providing everything you could possibly want for your stay. If ever you are in this area make sure you stay here...you wont be disappointed.

After a very long journey from Leicestershire were met with a very warm welcome from Chris who had kindly sourced a lovely bottle of champagne for our wedding anniversary. Our room was perfect with a private bathroom both beautifully presented, attention to detail second to none.
The Limes is well situated in the village of Westham,a short walk to the pub and restaurants and close to Pevensey and Eastbourne.
Chris and Rene were very attentive throughout breakfast, great choice including homemade bread, chutneys and jams, Chris even smoking his bacon, wow !
Thank you both for a lovely stay, we will return and certainly recommend you to friends and family

Things started apparently well but a horrid mix-up with the room bookings ruined the whole thing.

All three rooms were booked for one night and two rooms for a second night (the large room 1 and the littlest room 3); but, unexpectedly, room 3 turned out not to have use of the shared bathroom on the 2nd night as someone else had been booked into room 2 and they had, apparently, exclusive use of it.
Room 3, it seems, only has use of the downstairs toilet - - unless they share with someone they know in another room.
The "Family Suite" (room 2 and 3 combined) had been rented out to two different families.
A most peculiar set up and failing to communicate it adequately was made worse when talking about the situation with the hosts. There was what one might call an ungracious "failure of hospitality" when this awkward situation was brought up.
It was audaciously suggested, at 10:30 pm, standing in the downstairs hallway with 2 sleeping infants, that since the lack of a use if a bathroom was an unexpected surprise, that they would call the local Travelodge and arrange a room there instead.
Not a practical or polite solution to the problem.

It seems a nice enough place. Not deluxe but with pretensions to greater things. It just requires a lot more attention to what is needed for what is being aspired to. As examples: there was not a box of tissues in any room, there was no international shaver plug in the ensuite, the breakfast cereal selection was limited and did not include the ubiquitous Wheatabix.

Customer care is needed.

Room Tip: Room 3 only has use of a downstairs toilet. International travellers should bring plug adaptors.

We are so sorry that you where disappointed with your stay at The Limes.
Room 3 is indeed dedicated to room two and is not normally let out on it's own as we do not like the idea of strangers sharing a bathroom.
The first night of your stay was fine as you had booked both room one and two (nine souls sharing three rooms), however, on the second night we made an exception and explained that, in order to stay, your son, his wife and their one year old child would have to share your ensuite facilities, with the option of using the guest toilet at night to avoid disturbing you.
We have learnt an important lesson, and will ensure that any future stays that fall outside the norm are fully documented and signed off in advance,

I stayed at The Limes for three nights with my wife, daughter and baby grandson. Rene and Chris made us very welcome and even helped with taking the bags up the stairs. The property is situated just outside Eastbourne and is within easy reach of many local attractions and popular visitor areas such as Hastings, Beachy Head and Eastbourne. The hosts have obviously made great efforts to present the bedrooms, bathrooms and dining area to a high standard. They were lovely hosts who were more than willing to help and advise on places to visit and routes to take. The breakfast options were varied and delicious. Chris takes great pride and rightly so in his cooking and the guests are the beneficiaries of his skills. We arranged a night in where Chris cooked a three course Thai meal, we were all delighted by the meal and even more so when he only charged us £20 per head, which is really good value. Just one note worth mentioning, Rattle Road does live up to its name and can be a little noisy. It was very hot when we stayed and we found with the windows open at the front of the house the traffic noise was quite loud, although it does die away after about 10.30pm. This is a well located, well presented B&B with great hosts which will ensure a lovely reasonably priced and very enjoyable stay. Thanks very much.

Room Tip: The room at the rear is quieter.

Well, what a great find! Rene & Chris - thank you for you fantastic hospitality in you lovely home from home at The Limes. We thoroughly enjoyed our all too short stay with you. Our room was beautifully presented and very comfortable. The breakfast was so tasty - and what a treat to eat out in the garden in the glorious Sussex sunshine. Must also mention the very friendly Roley who certainly added to the welcome.

We hope to see you again very soon. Thank you,

Pam & Dan
