Description: Great little country pub near Bewl Water / Tunbridge Wells, Wadhurst

On entering the pub you are met with very attractive decor and a nice atmosphere. We placed our drinks order and asked for the menu.. and were automatically given the main meal menu.. we had only wanted a light lunch..but we hadn't made that clear.. so if you want a sandwich..make it clear.. our fault not theirs! However, we both selected our meals and I chose a ham and goats cheese salad.. and when it came it was, quite simply, AWESOME! Never has a salad tasted so good! I LOVED it.. the balsamic dressing was great and everything was so fresh and tasty.. my husband also said his burger and chips was great too.. he didn't even share a chip with me! All in all, this was a lucky find as we were just passing..but I honestly think it will be worth making the trip back just to have that salad again!
I understand the pub is under new management.. all I can say is.. keep up the good work and your reviewers will have nothing to complain about! BTW: this is SO much better than the pretentious Vineyard Pub at Lamberhurst- give that a miss!

We were visiting friends locally and the Old Vine was the perfect place for a pit-stop after a walk in the nearby countryside.

Lovely old characterful pub with open fires etc and good range of real ales (Harveys). We sat outside, due to it being a scorching hot day, and the seating benches are at the front next to the road. This is the only slight downside as you get the cars driving by.

Still a great spot and well worth a visit and our only regret is that we didn't try their food or more specifically their Sunday Lunch which by all accounts is very good.

Just to advise - after gradually deteriorating in recent times, I believe the pub now has new owners. Local rumour is that ex-thackarays personnel are moving in to reopen at end of May!...

Definately worth stopping here for lunch. Options of a more formal dining area in the restaurant with table cloths and flowers or relaxed bar area with comfortable seating and plenty of room along with a lovely atmosphere. Good idea to book if possible, especially for Sunday lunch as the food is excellent, very good value, well cooked and generous size portions from an extensive menu with child size portions also availabe from the main menu including the Sunday roasts, really nice vegetarian options too. Very friendly and helpful service and waiting time kept to a minimum with the food arriving nice and hot (except for the salads of course) even when really busy. Toilets were also very clean and well maintained.
A lovely experience that made our day.
