Fowlers Farm is a Vintage Inn so you know what you are going get and you know it’s going to be decent quality.
The lovely old building, full of character, is situated by the Cressing Road roundabout on the A120 near Braintree with plenty of parking.
We have always enjoyed the food at Vintage Inns but our last visit to Fowlers farm was exceptional.
We were welcomed by friendly pleasant staff who offered us a choice of tables and looked after us very well throughout the visit.
We both had Fillet steak (we needed a treat after a hard weekend working!) and both were cooked to our different tastes to perfection. The steaks were complemented by adding a peppercorn sauce which, as always, was delicious and a “Beef dripping sauce”, a new experience which turned out be a gorgeous smooth, thick, tangy and really beefy gravy type sauce with not even a hint of fat or grease.
The triple cooked chips were perfectly crispy with a smooth tasty inside and the onion rings were yummy and real onion.
As standard you also get a grilled tomato and nice little salad and it’s all presented beautifully.
We added cheesy garlic mushrooms and garlic prawns which come served separately and were very tasty but it made finishing the plateful a challenge!
They accept various discount vouchers including the AA deal which makes the bill even better value for money.
If you have not tried Vintage Inns, I recommend that you do and also Miller and Carter who are part of the same group and offer a different menu trending toward grills and steaks but again excellent quality.

Tootincarman, your wonderful feedback and rating mean a lot to us. I will personaly pass on your lovely comments to the kitchen and waitress team about your visit. I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed your steaks. Peppercorn is a classic sauce that you can't go wrong with but as you said, our Beef Dripping gives it that something special!
Our team strives to deliver an excellent experience, and are glad you found this to be the case during your visit. If you have further needs or questions, please reach out!
Kindest regards,
Megan

Enjoyed a very tasty lunch in the well kept garden. Although on a busy roundabout, we were not distracted by the traffic at all and hardly noticed the sound as there was piped music. The menu was quite extensive. The food was presented nicely and was piping hot. The desserts in particular were delightful. Would definitely return. Bonus was a walk round the neighbouring garden centre.

Have been here twice for dinner. The food is good and not expensive. The staff all seem very friendly and we ate inside the old farmhouse with wooden beams and a log fire in the winter. There is nothing negative to say about it.
