“One of Many Return Visits”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2013

Found Ye Olde Green Dragon in February after moving to the area and have been back at least half a dozen times since. Our food has always been delicious. Everything is always cooked perfectly and the service is great. We have visited week nights and also had one of the best ever Sunday lunches - plenty of meat and perfectly cooked veg. We are working our way through the menu and most of Adam's 'specials'. Such a pleasant change to visit a pub/restaurant that is not part of a chain where you get great food, a warm welcome and great service.

“A warm welcome always”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2013

Alan and Bev always make everyone welcome . A traditional pub offering a relaxing atmosphere, great range of drinks and fine dining. Tensions will be high tomorrow during the Tyne and Wear derby.

“Great pub with restaurant”

Not a place for small children fortunately! but good food good service and a friendly atmosphere. Good for families if your children are well behaved and like food.

“terrible treatment”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2013

went into this pub on bank holiday monday for a drink with my husband and 3 year old son. the man who served us took our money and then went on to tell me to be aware that there were other customers in the pub and to keep my son quiet. my son was not causing a nuisance at all as if he was he would have been told off by myself or my husband as we have taken him into other pubs on a sunday afternoon and have never had any complaints. we were then set upon by another customer and made to feel so unwelcome had to have our drinks outisde in the freezing cold. i have sent an email to them but have had no response or apology. i cannot comment on the food in this pub as the restaurant was closed but i would never recommend this as a family friendly pub at all .

“Great Homecooked Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2013

Recently moved to the area so pleased that we have found a really nice pub that serves great food. Adam is a first class chef who serves delicious homecooked food. Last night I had beef in red wine pie with perfect chips (Adam's chips are the best I have ever eaten!) & a really generous portion of varied veg. My husband had the homemade chicken kiev which he said was the best he has ever eaten, accompanied by chips & a large, tasty salad. Although we had eaten every scrap & were really full we couldnt leave without having a pudding - I had the raspberry crepe & ice-cream & my husband had the cointreau creme brulee. Both excellent choices. Topped off with two large glasses of excellent Merlot we had a really enjoyable evening & one we shall be repeating in the very near future. The host Allen came in to the restaurant to welcome us & to make sure everything was to our liking & you could tell he really wanted his guests to have the best possible time in his pub unlike other places we have eaten in where although you are asked if everything is ok the waiter/waitress doesnt even bother to wait to hear your reply. Our waitress Karen was lovely too. Cant wait to return.
