Where to start , the whole experience was enjoyable from start to finish. The food, amazing, hot, cooked really well, butterflied prawns really yummy. The steak cooked to perfection and the raspberry pavlova, well words fail me, a really lovely meal. The restaurant is spacious, nice temperature and spotlessly clean, oh and the scenery wasn't bad either, nice day could see for miles across fields. Good to see a restaurant with smiling friendly staff, and knew what they were doing, and enough of them to be able to serve and take an order, such a pleasure, very calm atmosphere. We will be back.

The ambiance is great so is the people watching as every other diner is typically Essex ! You know what to expect with the food , well cooked fish and sides ,nothing flash , not fine dining but satisfying and plentiful .
Always pleasant service ,friendly and helpful if slightly amateurish !
Standard selection of wine ,nothing too exiting .
Wished we had booked outside because it was warm enough and there was a stunning sunset which filled the whole dining area .

We returned to Alec's last week. Once again the food was spot on. What makes this place special is the service and the ambience. Add the wonderful views and you have the perfect setting for a great night out. The food is always good and the service is faultless. We had a few bottles of lovely Sancerre to wash down the excellent fish.
The prices are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
