Visited this restaurant recently on a week night and three couples were dining. The restaurant has real character and the chef/owner is very nice and welcoming. It is no wonder there were not more diners. It is very expensive for an italian/sardinian restaurant. Starters from £7.50 and a plate of spaghetti with a tomato and basil sauce £10. Wines also exorbitant. It prices were more reasonable I would certainly eat there more often. But the bill for two for three courses and a bottle of wine was £80.

This should be an affordable restaurant to eat in regularly. It is well off the beaten track and needs to attract locals. I don't expect three courses for £12 but come on chef you need more business. I think for what we had a bill for £50 would have been more acceptable for a midweek meal. I have rated atmosphere as poor because there were not enough diners.

Hope to visit again but not until prices reflect the area and italian food, which let's face it you can't get cheaper than a pasta dish.

This is a quirky little Italian on the corner of a block of flats in West Horndon, but do not be put off by the exterior. Inside is warm and friendly with well laid out tables.
We had not been for some time so 8 of us went last saturday To cater for that the Chef did an anti-pasta starter but one or two of us had his excellent soup aswell. It is important to turn up at your booking time as all the food is freshly cooked so things can be slow if everyone turns up at the sametime and he has a full house. There is a menu (try the excellent fillet in red wine) but there are also his specials which are always very good indeed.. This week it was the small chicken which stood out and we had the last three.
The Zonin prosecco is one of the best around.
Wine can be expensive but some of his Italian reds are very good and worth paying for. Good to see the quality has not gone down while we have been away!

Strange location, on corner location of typically 60's building, in West Hordon, near Brentwood, Essex.
Excellent traditional italian food, they do have a menu but, the owner/chef Alberto, will alway greet you & offer suggestions, and indeed cook you a special something if nothing takes your fancy on the menu or from his personal recommedation.
Due to location, little off the beaten track, normally been quite when I,ve visited. but the staff & owner offer a very attentive one to one treatment of all their guests.
It deffinatly a restaurant for the special occasion, always something different to try.
I've visited 4 times this year & can't

Alberto, the owner/chef will cook you anything. There is no menu and the atmosphere is very rural Italian and traditional. Wonderful wines and lots of family attention and conversation.

I have been visiting this restaurant for many years now and it is always enjoyable. The food is always very good and varied. Don't bother with the menu; the fun is to ask Alberto what specials he has that day - sometimes it is an old favourite, such as his fabulous pasta fagioli soup, and other times it is something new. My brother was once disappointed when he heard the special was lasagne - after all, you can get that anywhere, right? Not like this, you can't, and he still raves about it to this day! In addition to the enjoyable food, the wines are always good, the home-made desserts are a treat, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. If you are expecting run-of-the-mill chain-restuarant pasta dishes, you will be disappointed; instead, broaden your horizons here and let Alberto serve one of his specials. Highly recommended.
