I have stayed at the Marygreen Manor 5 or 6 times in the last year whilst on business.

Two words - consistent quality! Staff are welcoming and caring. Rooms are spacious with enough room to work if you have to. Restaurant is very good - quality food well presented at OK prices.

Room Tip: Get a room off the central garden area. I think there are some other rooms and apartments but I hav...

We were four couples attending a friend's birthday party in Brentwood. The fact that the hotel was not in the centre of Brentwood with the TOWIE hordes suited us very well.
This was the second time I had stayed at the hotel and I liked it even better this time - probably helped by brilliant sunshine.
Our rooms were like little cabins positioned round the beautiful gardens where guests can enjoy traditional English tea or drinks from the bar. By UK standards, the rooms were far from small with a separate seating area as well as the sleeping area and bathroom. We had complimentary fruit, tea and coffee making facilities (no problem when we asked for extra coffees and milk) and reception also provided toothbrushes for those who had forgotten to bring their toiletries. Service was excellent.
We had continental breakfast in the main dining room. This included a buffet of fruits, cereals, cold meats, cheese and breads/pastries. The hot buffet and "full English" breakfast options looked substantial although we did not try these.
The hotel is not cheap - but we were able to get an excellent deal booking through tripadvisor!

This was my third time staying at the Marygreen Manor. It's an historic location with English charm. I would highly recommend the hotel if you're saying in or near Brentwood. I don't think you'll find a prettier hotel in the area that has nearly 500 years of history behind it.

The first few days here were fantastic. The hotel is lovely - the rooms were warm, the food was excellent and it has a good atmosphere and is full of English character.

I would even say that they provided the best breakfasts we’ve been offered for a very long time. All the staff related to the restaurant were top class.

I thoroughly recommend it.

Minor grumbles:

We stayed twice within a month and when we returned for our second stay, we were downgraded, which was handled fairly poorly. We did get to move rooms once the wedding that displaced us was over.

The UK phone calls I made were eye-wateringly expensive.

I booked a one night stay with dinner and breakfast as a birthday present, it was a bank holiday special offer. The hotel was very busy when we arrived as there was a wedding taking place. Check in was quick and efficient, our room number 17 overlooked the pretty garden and the wedding party were there for the photos, a pity it was overcast and wet. The room was very nice, a little dated but confortable. My only criticism was that the fully tiled bathroom was freezing the whole time we were there. We dined in the atmospheric Tudor restaurant, the service and food was outstanding. We had coffee and liquers in the lounge after dinner and that was pleasant too, we received a courteous service despite the staff being very busy with the wedding reception. After a good nights sleep we enjoyed a full English breakfast in the restaurant which was excellent, all in all a great experience, well done to all the staff.

Room Tip: Try to get ba room overlooking the garden and check out the history of the house

We held our wedding at this venue two weeks ago. It was a lovely place with lots of character. The staff were very courteous and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We held our reception in the Henry VIII room which was adequate for the number of people we invited without being too cramped. The food was excellent and the waiters were on the ball. Everything ran like clockwork, mainly due to the services of Michael, the resident Master of Ceremonies, to whom we give special thanks. The dancing in the evening was excellent due to the resident DJ who played the right music for the age group (25 yrs to 91 yrs though mainly 60 yrs upwards). We would highly recommend this hotel as a wedding venue.

Room Tip: Because of the age of the building, we understand rooms vary in size and there are no lifts so sugge...
