We recently stayed at the Marygreen Manor hotel for an overnight stay, dinner and breakfast. Well it’s certainly different. The premises date back to the 13th century (although it has only been a hotel since 1968), so there is a wealth of history and character about the buildings. The restaurant itself is really rather magnificent, with many original timbers and artefacts. Apart from the main restaurant there is also a smaller bar area where afternoon teas etc. are served, a bar, a sitting room and a large function room. The hotel rooms are excellent, clean, modern and welcoming. For dinner we sampled the 6 course Tasting menu with paired wines. It included scallops, red mullet, squab pigeon, guinea fowl and beef. The food was good but not stunning as were the wines. However, it was excellent value for money. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, with brilliant sausages and other excellent fresh produce (and unlimited). The hotel clearly attracts a very mixed crowd of diners and hotel guests. There was a wedding in progress as we arrived and celebrity guests having breakfast on the Sunday. The Marygreen Manor has real character and certainly a huge dollop of Faulty Towers and The Only Way is Essex. We had a fabulous time and would definitely return.

Stayed at Marygreen Manor on a Saturday evening after at concert at local venue.
Found the hotel by luck via the internet and so pleased that my friends and I could get rooms there.
It is a little gem in the centre of town where you wouldn't expect such a quiet old style place.
The reception staff were very helpful and charming when we booked in and we were all very surprised when we walked to our rooms around the lovely courtyard garden.
Even though the weather wasn't great when we arrived the bride having her photos taken in the garden still looked happy!
Our rooms were large and very clean and even had nice touches like a fruit bowl as well as tea/coffee and bottle water.
Being as you are on a main road the hotel is surprisingly very quiet at night.
The staff kindly made sandwiches for us for after our concert and made us very comfortable on our return in the conservatory.
Breakfast was good although being a veggie maybe they could do a little more that we can eat
as there was a lot of meat around!
Would recommend this hotel and hope to stay there again very soon.

Room Tip: Stay in a garden room as the view is really lovely in the sunshine.

Stayed on a Friday night in a garden room.
Room was excellent with nice furnishings and large bathroom .
Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant and meal was really good. Slight negative was that white wine wasn't chilled enough.
Overall a very nice experience.

I have stayed here on several occasions over the last year. The hotel is beautiful and full of character. The staff are very polite and the hotel is very clean. The room sizes are good for the price you pay and I could not fault the food or the staff behind the bar.

We used the Marygreen Manor to celebrate our 60th Wedding Anniversary last Sunday, 14 October. We had 30 guests and we fitted very comfortable into the room. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and every who attended said how much they enjoyed it too. The food was excellent and so was the service which was very attentive with excellent attention to detail. For example my daughter had made us a beautiful cake which was present to us by the waiter together with a large sword to cut it so he turned it into a lovely moment where the cutting of the cake was 'staged' and it became a photo opportunity for everyone. These little touches make all the difference. We had the room all afternoon and were not at all rushed. We finished with drinks in the lounge in the evening and again the bar staff were attentive and helpful. Thank you to everyone at the Marygreen Manor.

As the title suggests this could be the best place to stay in Brentwood. Very professional and helpful staff. Quentin the receptionist is amongst the most pleasant and professional I have come across...Thanks. The hotel was very clean and offered a pleasant environment both inside and out. We chose from the lighter bar menu for a light evening meal which was beautifully served and most enjoyable. Continental breakfast was included but we paid a small suppliment for full english...Great food! Will stay here again and happily recommend.
