“Christmas meal”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

Visited the restaurant for the Christmas meal with work colleagues (13 of us in total). We ate from the set Christmas menu £25 for 2 courses and £30 for 3 courses. There was enough choice and the dishes were a nice size. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. We were not rushed at all. In fact everyone enjoyed it so much we are planning on coming back next year.

From the moment you walk in you have this feeling of beauty.
The rooms are huge and beds are grand.
For the price i paid i was more than happy, lovely grounds and the staff were fantastic.
Wifi strong, great free fruit wasn't clear that the full english upgrade was so expensive though.

Having stayed in this hotel many times on business I was surprised to find myself in a room with no windows and below standard wifi internet - I could connect but couldn't even send an email. An enquiry regarding this was met with a response stating the hotel is full and everyone must be online!
The set menu in the restaurant is now a Christmas menu and has been increased by £5. Although the food was, as usual, excellent, I felt that the £25 for 2 courses to be on the excessive side when there is no other choice other than a la carte.

We stared Friday and Saturday night, London Saturday. Loved the building and the history, very csrefully preserved. I thought guests were put on the 'not so important' list just a tad, in favour of wedding parties, but thats ok. The facilities are not that spacious after all. 15th century building. However, the staff are first class. Very professional, polite and responsive. The meals are very nice. Even in a busy time, prompt and well presented. The Lounge Meals are actually superb.
The room we had, #20 was well presented and the bed very comfortable. A standard 'motel' room, but nice none the less.
Personally, a 9 out of 10.

We stayed at Marygreen Manor as evening guests at a family wedding party in November. We were in a garden room and we're very pleased. The room was clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. Facilities first class. The wedding reception was well organised and the staff efficient and attentive. We had arrived earlier than expected so had lunch in the restaurant. Did not enjoy the meal. My roast rib of beef was a bit chewy, husband's roast pork more fat than meat and the vegetables very all dente. We hoped it was just our bad luck and the real chef was not cooking that day, but we felt the same about breakfast. No pot of coffee on the table, foodnot very hot and seemed to have just been thrown on the plate and really badly presented. Therefore in my opinion I would not recommend the restaurant - but that's just my opinion. Other than this everything else was perfectly satisfactory and I would stay there again.

I stayed here for one night, as a stop over. The room was clean and comfortable.
The gardens looked well maintained. Staff were friendly, and the breakfast was ok.
There was a car park, but it did get very full at times.
