My fiancé and are I visited Hopefield for the first time on Sunday 29th June.

For only £3 an adult and with all the good work they do, this animal sanctuary is a must see.

It was raining on and off when we visited but we still had a great time.

Such a good mix of animals to see - horses, donkeys, rabbits, alpacas, ferrets, geckos and more!

There's also a cafe and gift shop.

For those people complaining about the state of the place. We found it to be in great condition and it's an animal sanctuary doing amazing work for poorly treated animals! It's only £3 for adults and they need money to stay open and carry on doing good!

Overall we really enjoyed this place and will definitely head back!

Could do with a little bit of a tidy up in places, in a walkway there was lots of stinging nettles which is where the kids walk, a good variety of animals and worth a visit though

We went with family to the opening day. The place was a mess. Hardly no animals when its states over 300.
They had a bird of prey show on and the whole thing was boring and the men doing it seemed to not be bothered with their job.

I understand they are charity based and I hope they get the funds to continue helping many unwanted and mistreated animals.

Dear lil_aliy,

We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your experience at our June Fun Day at Hopefield.

You mentioned that there were hardly any animals, but we do actually have over 300. On the Birds of Prey Fun Day, the cats, chickens and ducks had to be put away due to the display, as the signs around the sanctuary stated. However, there were over 60 horses in their stables on the main yard, and our cows, pigs, ferrets, rabbits and small animals, reptiles, tortoises and terrapins, alpacas and many more were easy to see around the sanctuary, so I’m surprised you thought there weren’t many animals.

We are disappointed that you did not enjoy the birds of prey show, we had many compliments on the day about the professionalism of the company running it and as they had over 18 birds for the public to meet, the display is an attraction we find that most people enjoy.

We also had many compliments on the day about the men running the display and the fact they had birds the public could stroke, including two baby birds, which we think is a fantastic opportunity for people to see these birds up close.

As for the mess, unfortunately due to the large number of visitors we get on these days, litter is unavoidable, and is cleared away by volunteers at the end of the day. There are a few areas in Hopefield we are hoping to improve to make it look tidier, but our priority has to be the animals, and our funds go towards rescuing these abused, abandoned and neglected animals first.

We wish you had brought up your concerns on the day and we may have been able to explain all of this to you directly, and we feel you may have accidentally missed some areas that have animals in, which would explain why you thought there were hardly any animals.

If you would like to discuss this further, please give us a call on: 01277 201110

Love it all. Nothing here to dislike if you love animals. The work these people do is fantastic and they need all the support they can get. They totally rely on donations. :-)
