Nice pub, newly refurnished, comfy chairs, tables are on the tight side but place is clean, the restaurant side hasn't got silly extra loud music which helps if you want to have a conversation. The staff is friendly, helpful land with smile on their faces which always helps. The food was surprisingly nice, definitely above the average chain pub. I had a nice pork balls with a beautiful apple, nutty sauce, but the goat cheese pastry that hubby had was delicious, shame that salads don't come with a continental (olive oil & vinegar) I am sure that if I asked for I would get some, may be next time. Main course I had the typical fish and chips and I was very pleased to see that fish was nicely cook, with no sticky oily butter and the chips were delicious, soft inside and crispy outside and not extra oil or nasty after taste, the only bit that I will criticise it's the pretending news paper to make look more old fashion, but after a while I realised that the paper was melting and I had to take two bits out of my mouth. Hubby had the crispy pork and I was very tempting on swapping plates, also very nice and soft and really crispy scratching, yummmm. Desserts were also nice my rhubarb may be too much on the tarty side. In general it was a pleasant lunch.
