Really good park for children of all ages. Only downsides are that the pools are only open during the summer school holidays and the cafe in the park is expensive

This is a lovely park, but not really for under 3's. The play park is for bigger children and the skate park too. The paddling pool is fun on a sunny day.
Cafe is pretty rubbish, so bring a picnic.

Parking close by, free for 3 hrs, £5 whole day. Arrived pretty early Friday which was lucky due to a Fri Family Fun day on, apparently the first of many for the summer. Little cafe which apparently had crazy golf nearby too. Went for a 2 hour session in the paddling pools (x2), be warned these are not splash pools but quite deep, just above waist level on my 2 year old. Picnic by pool, before we left to walk 2 mins over to the adventure park, couple of different levels and again v busy so hard to keep your eye on youngsters (subjected 2yr old to mostly buggy time!) but 4yo enjoyed himself with much ignorance to my nerves lol.. there was also a Punch and Judy show on right outside the park which started just as we walked out.. brill. Didn't venture any futher into park. All in all a fun day out, all bar the wasps!

I have used this park for years. A great public park with great facilities. Beautiful gardens and the sensory garden a quiet place to rest and reflect. The cafe offers basic food but a place to have a break and chat to friends. I use the park these days to walk myself and the dog and meet other dog lovers. I used it for years when i used to take my young child to play in the lovely playground. Unfortunately these days, thanks to 'health and safety' going mad, the paddling pool only opens in the summer but despite this it brings crowds of families from all over essex.. There is a golf course as well as bowling and the walk can take you to Thorndon park. Bikers and cyclists also love this park.
