Visited today for Sunday lunch. Ordered one beef and one pork with stuffing. The beef had one slice and the pork 2 slices with no stuffing ! We also tried to order a side dish of cauliflower cheese but was told they had run out. It's a Sunday ! Surely you make sure it's available if it's on the menu. Was just disappointed that most of it was from frozen and not fresh. We have been many times before and it's always been good quality and good value. Not sure if there is new people running it, but we won't be returning anytime soon for Sunday lunch.

I usually visit this place for a drink with my friends and I've never encountered any problems here. They are always well stocked on a vast range of drinks and although I've never eaten here, food is available until 21.00 I think which is a good time.
The facilities are clean and tables cleared, the staff do a good job.

Ember Inns need to get a grip on this place. It's my local but every time we try to eat there, it's a disaster. 7.30pm Saturday night, 4 adults, 4 kids on a not overly busy evening. On past experience, we ordered almost immediately & could see plenty of other food coming out. Friends had told us that they seemed to have sorted their kitchen out recently, so we hoped for a simple evening.

Sure enough, the starters arrived within 10 & they were good. Nachos & pulled pork went down a storm. Then the wheels came off. We waited about 30 minutes & asked when the mains were due whilst getting more drinks. Told there were delays but around another 10. This went on for about another 45 minutes. The girls behind the bar were getting grief left right & centre but handled it well, although everyone was being reasonable about it.

We received a complementary round but we had 4 rounds waiting for the food it took that long. It was nearly right when it arrived but by then the kids would have eaten a table if it had enough ketchup on it. The food itself was decent enough despite the wait, although a couple of things were missed & the kids burgers were just the normal cheeseburgers. Not an issue except they were expecting the 'double stack' burgers & kids want what they asked for. The kitchen kindly bought out 2 more burgers but they'd virtually finished by the time they arrived.

The pub usually asked kids to vacate by 9pm. We were still eating gone 10 & others were still waiting or had given up.

This place would be packed to the rafters if they could get the food right. Shorten the menu for a start. Too many dishes is the curse of many a chain pub restaurant (see Baddow Barn up the road). The manager did what she could & I think was the chef for some of the evening & the bar staff did well to handle it - I bought them a drink as they were fully stressed by the evening.

Ok, they comped the meal including the drinks without prompting, which is great (although there was no problem with the actual food) but if they are having to do that several times a night, they won't be open much longer. Ember Inns might have their name on the sign but they don't seem to want to help the pub & its staff, who don't deserve the grief. It shouldn't be this difficult.

It's good for a drink at present but be prepared to wait if you go for food. I'd like to say it might have been a one-off but this is 3 times in a row in the last 6 months. I'm not that unlucky surely?
