A beautifully situated country pub right on the river crouch with access to the nearby nature reserve for beautiful walks. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The food was lovely and the atmosphere great. All in all we had a lovely weekend here at a very reasonable price.

After leaving The OakHouse Restaurant Maldon as a result of a useless menu which we believe did not warrant having to select purely what was available on the menu that being take it or leave it only one real meal choice.
It was a cold Saturday we were tired, disappointed and we were hungry so we decided to look for a real restaurant serving good hearty food, so we headed to The Ferry Boat Inn North Fambridge
A pub we had used before.

For a small pub the menu was plentiful especially for a Saturday lunch time plenty to select from plus 'Specials' on a blackboard.

We both ordered at the bar was given a numbered spoon we proceeded to the conservatory part of the pub which at the time was vibrant with a family of 12 people.

The tables and chairs in the conservatory were all new since our last visit and were very comfortable.

Despite being busy and within 10 minutes of sitting down we were served our hearty and plentiful food, my wife ordered the local produced Ham, egg and chips and I ordered the Special pub prepared sausage pie, chips and beans, the beans were served seperatly in a dish which was more than expected.

The food was plentiful, and tasty.

The internal surrounding of the pub were old but cosy, the bar maid had a nice smile serving us and was helpful and friendly.

we were given a numbered spoon and a tab was started which was very easy when paying to our surprise the total bill was less than £20 including two alcoholic drinks.

Yes we will return, the pub is ideal for a quick cheap meal great if you are hungry or in a hurry.
The location of the pub is excellent ideal for a riverside walk in real unspoiled Essex countryside.
Don't expect The Ritz or Savoy but just hearty food.

lol, had to take issue with the address, the location of this pub is beautiful, a stones throw from the river Crouch, but is miles away from Chelmsford, it's closer to Southend no matter what the Post Office thinks!

Lovely location and great staff, food is so-so...but it’s a pub so don’t expect haute cuisine...saying that.....was disappointed with this visit when we both had scampi and chips to find that underneath both of our portions of thick chunky chips was a bedding of those hard chippy bits no-one wants, that was a bit of a let down.....but I will have been here a few times, and generally its ok.
