“Just as good second time....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2012

Second time we've stayed here and it was as as good the first. We were visiting family in the area and this hotel is in the perfect location. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean and well supplied with towels.
It's very handily placed just off the A12 and has a nice restaurant/bar on the ground floor. There is also a mcdonalds and garage with M&S shop attached next door.

Reception staff on 24th August, very rude, the is the only fault with the hotel, we turned up at 12.55 as we had awedding to go to and she said you can't go in your room till 1pm ? not sure why as it was not used the day before. Could do with air con.
Very Clean rooms
Great breakfast well cooked.
All staff very good apart from reception.

I stayed here over the V Festival weekend. Upon check-in there seemed to be some confusion finding our bookings on the system. However once they were ironed out we settled in. My friends and I had two rooms with two people sharing a double bed. There was also a sofa bed in the room, which was spacious, with basic ammenities like a decent hair dryer.
A personal bug bear is soap and shower gel in a dispenser rather than fresh individual soap/small bottles of shower gel. There was no shampoo or conditioner provided, however I prefer to use my own products so this wasn't a problem.
Despite being told at check in we would be given extra towels once they realised it was a shared room not a single as was on their system (despite me discussing with the company who made the booking over a week before and advising them to change it to a double) we were left to return to reception to collect our them ourselves. Not a huge problem but it would have been nice if they were given before we left the check in and not left to assume they would be brought to the room for us.
The rooms do not have air conditioning - a huge problem on the hottest weekend of the year! The window only opened a fraction so we had to make do with a fan, which thankfully was provided. But it still felt like sleeping in a sauna. The room was very clean on both days we stayed.
Breakfast was a large selection of good quality cereals, yoghurt, dried fruit, Costa coffee and juices. Freshly made porridge and a choice of items for a cooked breakfast were only a few pounds extra. I was extremely impressed with the quality of items.
Overall, this is a great cosy place to stop over for a few nights if you need to be in the area but remember in summer you'll be baking.
There is a 24hour McDonalds and a M&S on the doorstep - handy for a late night munch.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor at the back of the hotel and had no noise problems

I needed somewhere to stay late in the evening near to the A12 following a delayed trip to the UK and my wife booked me into this hotel at the last minute. When I arrived I was a little skeptical but the friendly lady at reception and the clean room soon put me at ease. I slept well and was able to resume my journey very easily the next day. I would return to this hotel at any time it was perfect for an overnight stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the A12 if you want a more peaceful rest.

We wanted an out of London accommodation for the Olympics for 4 days with good access to them. This hotel was very affordable, with warm and friendly staff with excellent breakfast. The room was clean and comfy but too warm for our liking (only downside). Good value for money.

We arrived & were greeted by a really friendly lady on reception, check in was quick. Our room was clean & comfy. We had a late night out bt had no problem getting our key & a relief not to have check out the next day until 12.
