We came to Clacton for the day and decided to stay. Picked this B&B, as it was in a good location and it had a sign saying fully licensed bar and restaurant, which is what we wanted........to have a drink and a nice evening meal without worry of having to drive.Much to our surprise, there was only a small dark breakfast room. There was no sign of bar or restaurant as was clearly advertised outside!! Also, there was no provision of shelter for smoking outside, and as it was raining, this was also inconvenient. The rooms were clean, but could do with updating. I have given a score of 3 as the breakfast was in fact very good. Given a choice, I do not think we would stay here again.
Although this place seemed to be well situated for town etc... the pedestrian crossing right at the front, did disturb our sleep.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back away from the noise.

We have family in Clacton which entails travelling down from the north for family visits.
We have tried several hotels in Clacton but the Grosvenor is by far the best in its price range.
Arrival was quick and efficient and the room was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. A nice shower with water that was actually hot all the time and not intermittently. The full English breakfast was a joy to eat. Our accomodation in future will most certainly involve our staying at the Grosvenor Hotel

BBetween the bed which was like a rack of torture and the screeching of the gulls I had 2 awful nights sleep. My Husband chose this place because breakfast was included. I won't be having breakfast I can't walk and am going home to see my Chiropractor! Mrs Carne

Friendly owners and easy check in. We had room 3. Clean and comfortable with a new TV. Plenty of tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits. Great breakfast, we had the cooked full English and it was very nice. On the day we checked out we were told we could leave our car in the car park all day if we needed to. We would stay here again for a weekend without hesitation.

First impression not ideal. We were met by, I think, the owner. He didn't introduce himself but just gave me a receipt and a doorkey (I had prepaid online) and turned his back. I had to ask where the room was. The room itself was at the rear of the hotel and was very small but spotless and had an excellent bathroom. The bed was extremely soft, which took some getting used to but didn't affect our sleep too much.Hot drink facilities, milk and water were provided in the room, and there was access to an iron and ironing board. In the morning breakfast was served by the same person we had met previously (I still don't know his name, and we never saw any other staff). He seemed more friendly this time and the breakfast was outstanding.Plenty of cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit, fruit juice and croissants plus a good choice of cooked breakfast. We were offered extra coffee and toast and really couldn't fault the service or quality. The hotel is in a very good central location and we would stay again.
