“Good Hotel”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

Stayed at this hotel for one night in 10th July.
Very pleasant staff and spotless room.
No car park but there is a car park opposite charging £6.70 for 24hours. Just put £4.00 and take the ticket to reception and they'll sign it so you can park for 24hours.
New rooms very clean, bathroom spotless, dreamer bed very very comfortable.
5 minute walk to seafront and the shops are right on the doorstep.

I booked a 'accessible twin room' as I am disabled. I was given a third floor room some way from the lift, and it was a double room. I was staying with my niece and wanted twin beds, but was not offered an alternative, so the receptionist had to unzip the beds and get extra bedding when we arrived.
The room was very basic, with only ONE chair at a small desk, and a huge space beside it. There was no phone in the room, and no bedside tables. The toilet smelled of drains, and the whole experience was not pleasant. Then a woman banged on the door in the morning to remind us that check out was at 12.00.
For the price of £77 for the night, with NO breakfast and no restaurant or bar, I felt that this was extremely bad value. I used to like Travelodge - but this was the WORST experience I have ever had, and I would not stay again.

You get what you pay for and this Travelodge is clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly but found it a bit strange that the hotel front door is locked from 10.00pm - 6.00am (although you can of course get a key from reception if you are going to be out later).
The only downside is that rooms on the Jackson Road side are subject to early morning noise - e.g. road sweepers @ 5.30am. In future, would request room on other side of building.

We were checking a last minute affordable hotel/B&B a night before going to Clacton on a summer solstice day and can't find an acceptable price and availability. I can't remember what hotel comparison site it was (thankful for that) which was the only one who showed up Travelodge (even Tripadvisor didn't suggest it on my search). It was our saviour! I can't believe the price as even the expected Premier Inn(fully booked) didn't match the price! And yet it was just perfect on what we just wanted- decent place to stay, clean, comfy and relaxing and short distance to the beach! They also have complimentary wifi for 30mins. We are officially a fan!

Convenient shops and places to eat can just be beside the building. For those disabled customers, the room seems to be friendly, as it has bed emergency call buttons, hand rails and emergency cord in the toilet, seat in the shower, lift and spacious room. It felt odd though.

Just some comments for those expecting too much- Parking isn't completely free. You have to pay £4 (£6.20 for 24hrs in the machine) in the car park place in front of hotel and the reception needs to sign the ticket to make it valid for 24hrs. No breakfast included of course, and their continental breakfast kit for sale may not be so interesting for those wanting a hearty meal. No hair dryer nor iron inside the room, but the info flyer said "ask the reception if you need them" (we are not sure if it's for hire).

All in all, we were pleased! We will always check Travelodge wherever we go now.

This Travelodge had had its rooms revamped recently and the layout and presentation are much improved on the previous style. However, some of this was undone by the poor housekeeping in the shower room as the WC and soap holder both could have done with a more robust clean than a wipe with a cloth with some cleaning product. Not what was expected

This hotel has been recently refurbished and is in immaculate condition - double that up with the great value that Travelodge offers there are no complaints.

The area itself is half a mile from the sea-front and there is a large car park opposite which is very reasonably priced.

The lady on reception was great and very friendly.

Not really much else to say apart from how happy I am with my recent experience

I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel for one night. I booked this quite last minute and it was excellent value.
I personally like the chain hotels because I like to know what I am going to get in the room and the general feel and look of the hotel.
A friendly receptionist, which there certainly was, is an added bonus! It was situated even nearer the beach than I expected. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable.
My only criticisms are small points and did not spoil the overall stay but it would be nice if they were improved.
The lack of digital TV channels and on screen programme guide, the bathroom had not been cleaned behind the door, one towel was shabby and had a hole in it.
I would definitely stay there again. The friendly reception staff made a nice impression, which is important especially as its quiet, you don't meet many people.
