“Average to improving......”

We had a clean, tidy, spacious bedroom with a nice seaview and a balcony, the shower room was a little cramped though, tea and coffee and flat screen TV also provided. Our room had been refurbished and every effort had been made to make sure it was clean and tidy. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast menu was a good choice, well prepared and nicely presented, the coffee tended to be rather strong and stewed. Do agree the parking is somewhat limited and the wi-fi a little erractic.

It does look like every effort is being made to refurb the property and it's reputation. It is certainly making great headway towards these goals, we would have no hesitation in staying at the Esplanade in future. A good hotel and well priced at the present, hope it doesn't out price itself when refurb is completed.

Room Tip: I would recommend room 4, what the shower lacks in space, the room gains and has a patio and seaview...

Stayed here for one night via Laterooms.com. Had room 29, it was completely refurb'd with a full sea view. It is almost in the roof! and so there are lots of stairs to be tackled but it was a great room with tea/coffee, beautiful ensuite and toiletries in the bathroom. Prompt friendly service in all I encountered. The hotel is one of the older ones in Clacton and so it has it's own 'style' but is undergoing a full refurb so bear with the inconveniences [which were very few and far between]. Breakfast was served [not buffet] and really good with a choice and loads to eat. The only downside was the limited on site parking [I got a space!], the frail and unreliable wi fi and phone signal in my room [I was there to work but obviously others weren't] and the lack of flow in the shower [but I was on the 2nd floor. All in all a great find and I hope it develops into one of Clacton's finest!

Room Tip: Front rooms have a full sea view. I suspect not all are yet refurb'd so be careful which ones y...

Nice little place, right on the sea front rooms are nice, very clean and tidy staff very helpful.
Breakfast was cereals, fruit juice and full English : sausage, bacon, beans, tomato, hash brown , mushrooms, egg, toast or fried slice. All very nice... Only complaint was the coffee, a pot of incredibly strong instant! Go for tea!
Overall, very good.

We stayed at the Esplanade this bank holiday weekend and had a lovely time.... our room had not yet been refurbished, however it was clean and tidy with nice clean white sheets, fluffy white towels and a fabulous sea view. The staff were very nice and very helpful. This was my first time in Clacton and when I go back I will certainly stay at the Esplanade Hotel.

The hotel is well positioned in a prime location at the sea front but is currently undergoing refurbishments. My advise would be to ask for an already refurbished room. Room 5 which has not yet ben updated was very shabby with poor decoration, uncomfortable beds and poor shower / bathroom facilities. Parking is a nightmare, with no spaces marked, so be prepared to be blocked in! Breakfast is good but very basic.

Overall - clean and well located.
Would only stay again once improvements have been finished!

Room Tip: Ask for a newly refurbished room!

I booked a room here at the last minute although a bit sceptical of some of the online reviews, but what can I say the young pretty lady on reception, bar & everything else charli was unbelievably helpful, polite, accommodating & went out of her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. A true asset to the hotel will definitely stay again as long as she's there.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced room, central location, then this is it. We had a room overlooking the sea. Basic ammenities you'd expect. The hotel was being refurbished during our stay and our room had been done. I would say minimal, but comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. English breakfast with choice of cereals. Would stay here again at the price we paid.

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a sea view and got one. No bath though, just a shower. (Didn't bother u...
