Stayed here after attending a wedding nearby (the wedding party were also here).
The building is beautiful and has some great facilities, wish we were here longer!
The ladies behind check in were friendly, along with the bar staff and waiter!
Check in was quick and easy and our room was easy to find.
We stayed in a deluxe room which had LOADS of space.
Sofa, table and chairs, desk, wardrobe (with tea and coffee making facilities, along with yummy biscuits), ironing board and iron, and a suitably sized bathroom.
The bed was so comfortable and the mattress completely supportive.
The views were lovely.
The only thing that annoyed me was that I could hear the 2 ladies talking next door VERY loudly at about 7am (bear in mind that we hadn't got to bed until 4am!) so that was a bit annoying.
Thoroughly reccommend, however!

We booked a private room for a small extended family lunchtime and afternoon gathering to celebrate a ruby wedding anniversary (9 adults, 3 very young children). From the outset, attitude of staff excellent. Approach was very flexible, and covered all aspects thoroughly, including several suggestions that had not occurred to us. Food and environment were both very good, but mostly we were pleasantly surprised by the service quality and attention we received - unobtrusive but friendly, timely and helpful. The hotel can accommodate large parties, but it would seem small groups are valued too. We would recommend the hotel as a function facility unreservedly, and would use it ourselves again for a similar occasion.

We stayed at this hotel with a baby and toddler and were delighted with the little 'extras' the hotel provided! We were given a very big suite which accommodated the cots, prams and other paraphernalia that comes when travelling with small chlidren. The decor of the room was slightly tired and dated (certainly no boutique hotel) but was spottlessly clean. What we did notice however were the thoughtful touches for travelling families: a changing mat, wetwipes, baby bath, nonslip bath mat, and ample towels. We were also permitted to go swimming with our toddler in a designated session in the adjoining pool. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We had a garden room which was ideal for us as it meant we could step outside and allow our toddler to run around. The fresh air in the room was also a welcome change from stuffy chain-hotel rooms. However, if there was a wedding on and you weren't a guest then it would have been the worst room in the hotel!! This was our first stay but it most certainly won't be our last! Highly recommended!

A group of 14 booked individually in assorted family groups. The Manager made it his business to find out if we were together and organised a separate dinning room with a large table for us all to eat together on the saturday evening. The food and service was excellent. On the day of departure my elderly father was taken ill, and they allowed him to stay in the bedroom to rest until he felt fit enough to make the long journey home - no charge was made for this.. They even took him a little pastry cake " on the house "
The hotel was clean, quiet, and well maintained. The staff were well trained, helpful, in attendance, but not obtrusive. If you dont stay here, it will be your loss!

Driving up a long sweeping drive to a beautiful looking hotel. Great first impression as you walk in and greeted by the manager, Jonathan who showed us around a selection of their rooms, all magnificent in their own ways. We chose room 27, the bridal suite
which was absolutely outstanding.
The room was 'huge' very bright in decor, warm and inviting. The bathroom was stunning, huge in size with an enormous bath and separate double shower cubicle, was even large enough for an armchair in there!
Four poster rooms are in a new part of the hotel and again beautifully decorated and huge in size. The traditional suites contain two rooms one with bed and the other a separate lounge area, which were nice but much more old fashioned in decor but are going to be refurbed in the future, as we were led to believe.
The old part of the hotel where we stayed has a dining room with a roaring fire, an executive lounge again with fireplace, a bar and separate breakfast room. All of these rooms are again tastefully decorated in keeping with the victorian hotel.
We dined a la carte and the food was exceptional at a reasonable price of roughly £60 per couple for 3 courses...delicious...
We spent a whole day in their neighbouring spa which is on their grounds and that was a great place with 2 lovely swimming pools, jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms. It was the most relaxing day and the staff there were fantastic. Food is also available in the spa and again delicious.
We travel and stay at lots of hotels and this is now one of our favourites. Will definitely stay again and highly recommend it.

We stayed for the weekend as our son was getting married in Danbury. Limited large hotels in this area and so based on the reviews were not expecting much, we couldn't have been more suprised. Along with family and friends who also stayed we had a large number of rooms. Everyone felt similarly, excellent value, super staff and very comfortable hotel. We had dinner at the hotel the night before the wedding, again not expecting much. it was absolutely super. Wonderful Polish waiter who was attentivee but not intrusive. They were also catering for a wedding on the same day but this made no difference. The rooms were very comfortable and beds excellent. We are used to staying in 4* plus hotels and this hotel ticked a lot of the boxes. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a break or business stay.

Our family booked in to this hotel for an overnight stay when our Son and daughter in law got married at the nearby stockwell lodge. The setting is very traditional and relaxing
rooms spacious and surrounding grounds idyllic and well kept. There is a pool to relax and conservatory looking out on to the countryside.
The staff were friendly and attentive. After the Wedding we stayed up partying in the
bar until the small hours everyone was in a happy mood and the staff joined in the atmosphere. The next morning we awoke to a perfect english breakfast. I can recommend this hotel it is charming.
Everyone agreed we would definitely go back again.
