What a amazing museum ! I have wanted to visit the airfield and museum for a while as I lived in the area as a child over 40 years ago.
It is so well laid out and visually very exciting. We certainly did not give ourselves enough time. We spent two hours and still felt we rushed it, so will have to return. The display are clear and well explained. The volunteers on the day from the lady on reception and in the coffee shop to the two ex RAF guys. They were so knowledgeable and happy to share their experiences .
Well done to everyone, you deserve to do well and thank you for keeping such a piece of history so alive.
This place is amazing, lots of exhibits and very knowledgeable guides, and the cakes are some of the best I've had
A great little museum run by friendly and knowledgeable enthusiasts. Crammed full of interesting stuff.
Absolutely top notch museum/heritage centre relating to RAF hornchurch, Sutton's farm, and local "hero's"
Very very well set out with lots of information.
Well run with knowledgeable volunteers.
Not the biggest car park but okay.
Fabulous museum, like a tardis, bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside.
Housing the collections of many dedicated volunteers, the museum houses artifacts and stories relating to WWI airdrome Suttons Farm and its succesor, RAF Hornchurch which was one of the key sector airfields during the Battle of Britain.
The volunteers at the museum are knowledgeable and friendly, and the tea room is decent value too.
I particularly enjoyed the home front room which is a recreation of a 1940s living room, and the stories of local civilians so close to an obvious German target for the bombers.
Only open at weekends, it is worth planning a trip to visit.
Splendid museum so much information, enthusiastic volunteers and experts brimming with information and fact.
So much to see, a second visit will be needed to fully absorb.
Only negative parking very limited on site.
