Tired dated menu and such strange combinations of food. We have been probably once or twice a year over the last 15 years and the menu hasn't changed and in that time other restaurants have appeared with better menu's and better quality food. This place is stuck in a time warp both with its food and décor although décor wise it is pleasant and there is space between the tables. I had a seafood cocktail with prawns and crayfish but it also contained poached salmon and tinned tuna, really tinned tuna for an evening meal, this came in a seafood sauce which tasted like salad cream. My Sirloin steak was well done although I asked for medium, the mushrooms were barely warm and the peas were so over cooked that they had faded in colour, the chips were just average frozen ones. I asked for a weak black de caf coffee which came white, it was replaced with a black coffee but it was so strong I couldn't drink it. We won't be going back until the menu has been brought into the 21st Century. The waitress was lovely, friendly and polite. I remember when this place used to be full on a Saturday night, tonight it wasn't even half full.

Went here for a meal on Mothers day with elderly parents and teenage children. The décor is 70's and you almost imagine Demis Roussos playing while you are served a warm prawn cocktail, that someone who has swallowed a thesaurus has, tried to rename, that tries to make it something other than a prawn cocktail, but fails miserably.
The place is literally full of over 60's, so much so that it would be understandable to think you were in an old peoples home. Why they seem to flock to this restaurant like moths to a flame is one of life's mysteries. Perhaps it is because of the bland tasteless overpriced food that tends to arrive at the table in an almost 'school dinner' like manner, or maybe, it is because due to the inherent dental problems the elderly tend to suffer with, there is little on the menu that actually requires the act of mastication, and can easily be 'gummed' into a paste and swallowed.
The teenage children found the episode amusing and spent the duration of event, when they were not complaining about the food, trying to work out which diner was most likely to next meet their maker. Personally, this restaurant would struggle to Michelin tyre.
However, my elderly Mother enjoyed the day, which almost made putting up with a horrendous meal tolerable.

IT is some 30 years since we visited this place, it used to be across the road but like all towns some one al3ways wants to rebuild and take the heart out of the place. We liked the old place better a good old fashioned style, Everything is now modern we enjoyed our visit but missed the old style Service was good and the coffee and later ice cream were very good, how about tuning the clock back

The waitress was miserable and refused to smile, very abrupt. The coffee was nice though. They wouldn't take payment by card and there were no signs informing anyone of this so when I came to pay I had to go 100 yards down the street to use a cash machine. Wish I had gone to Costa to be honest as it's just a stone's throw away. Wouldn't recommend this place.

We stopped for lunch on busy Easter Monday. Table was available straight away and service polite and friendly. 3 plates of excellent fish and chips (especially recommend the plaice, it was delicious) and 3 nostalgic sundaes and we were happy. Good value, sensible food, decent portions and comfortable environment. I'll be back for another plate of plaice soon.
