What a gorgeous little hotel, beautifully decorated & fantastic service, will definitely be going back. Went on a romantic break with my huspand and we loved it so much. We had Nelson"s lookout room, wanted to book The Balcony Suite, unfortunately unavailable, but will be booking again soon. Breakfast was fantastic too and a lovely welcome from owner of hotel made our stay even more worth it. We stayed in June, so sorry for late review!

We stayed in the Balcony Suite for three nights over our wedding and it was as wonderful as we'd hoped. As the bride, I stayed alone in the Balcony Suite the night before the wedding and the subsequent two nights with my husband. The bridesmaids and my parents filled the other rooms in the hotel.

It was lovely to have our whole wedding party there and thanks to John and Rachel it really felt like home. They were unobtrusive but there to assist if and when we needed them. I ordered breakfast in bed for the morning of the wedding but forgot to order it for myself and husband the day after the wedding. John knocked on our door at 915, 15 mins before breakfast finished, to see if we would like some. I thought this was a lovely touch; he obviously realised we would like breakfast in bed but didn't want to disturb us too early.

All of the rooms are lovely at Hamiltons but the Balcony Suite is something special. I would recommend it for any brides to be. The spacious living area is ideal for gathering with friends and family - the morning of the wedding was lovely, with bridesmaids, friends and family in and out getting ready and sharing Champagne. The balcony is also a lovely spot for a few photos.

We had great nights' sleep. The funfair could be heard from the front facing rooms until around 11pm on Saturday but this wasn't a problem for our party.

Breakfast was high quality with a good choice of the usual cooked English fare.

Hamiltons is really relaxing - John and Rachel do not impose themselves at all and you're left to feel as though you're really at home. However, if you do need them for anything they're there in an instant.

We will return for our anniversary.

Room Tip: Balcony Suite is dreamy but the next best room is the lovely and large Hamiltons.

Lovely small hotel. Friendly, Very clean and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable. Bottled fresh water in room at no extra cost. A jar of coffee in your room along with a choice of teas. Breakfast was just what anyone would want as it is what you want. Fresh fruit salad, cereals, fresh fruit pieces, yoghurt, freshly cooked breakfast at your request.
Staff very friendly.
I will definitely return to this hotel as a non business customer.

We spent 4 nights here from 17th August 2013. Everything was wonderful. The staff were very welcoming . Beautiful old building but spotlessly clean and very well decorated. We stayed in the ' Lady H', which was lovely and bright. Very comfortable and quiet at night. We were also shown the 'Balcony Suite' which although obviously more expensive, was lovely. We may treat ourselves sometime soon! The breakfast was excellent with delicious extremely fresh fruit salad with cereals and yogurts and plenty of fruit juice. Then a fresh cooked breakfast to your order. All the food was first class:; none of your cheap sausage/ bacon which some other places serve. The coffee is also delicious and served in cafetieres and plenty of top ups as needed. The staff will also keep your bags on checkout day which was great as we had a late afternoon flight. We were able to go into town then return to Hamilton's where we waited in the lounge area and were offered yet more coffee. We will definitely be back as our daughter now works in Southend and we plan many mini trips over to visit her. Many thanks for a wonderful stay.

the hamilton boutique hotel has a real home from home feeling, the staff are very friendly, and always a smile to greet you, we stayed in the balcony suite, and enjoyed it very much. the bed was excellent and a quiet nights sleep too, the main room has a good size tv, and the sofa was very comfortable as well, very near the town centre and all the main shops. plus the breakfast in the morning was very good, cooked to order in the dining room. we would recommend this place to all.

Room Tip: we chose the balcony suite, for the views, and will definately be back there.
