I love this hotel. Enormous rooms and for £10 extra you can guarantee a seaview room. Friendly staff and a nice bar overlooking the big theme park on the beach.
Brought my kids and we had a great time, will definitely be coming back.

I stayed 3 nights this week for business.
Positives -
Friendly staff
Location
Quality of main meals

Negatives -
Bedroom wall covered in a child's drawings (every wall, not just a small patch)
Had to change both pillows on the first night as they were filthy
Bedding could be better quality, I agree with other reviews 1 flat pillow is awful
Dirty cups and cutlery in the restaurant.

It's a shame that the lack of care in basic cleanliness (bedding and breakfast place settings) lets this place down. Overall a pleasant stay and I would return.

We spent four nights in the Park Inn by Radisson hotel in Southend in August 2013 and were quite impressed with the hotel as a whole. We had room 511 on the fifth floor and it was clean and comfortable. We had a view of part of Adventure Island and the whole of the East Beach and as the weather was beautiful the view was fantastic.
The room was bright and airy, had an open wardrobe, a double bed, two chairs, a safe which was free, telephone, bathroom with a good shower with a soap dispenser and one by the sink. There were no other toiletries provided. Tea and coffee making facilities were also provided.
Breakfast was very good with a selection of cereal, cold as well as hot food and the coffee was quite good.
We only used the bar once and discovered that they couldn’t make an Irish Coffee properly so I had to take it back and have something else.
The hotel is in an ideal situation close to Adventure Island, the beach and the shops.
I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view to enhance your stay

We attended an evening wedding reception here. The hotel is decorated well and is clean and tidy. The buffet food was very pleasant, the sandwiches were fresh and the hot selection was lovely, and they kept replenishing it as it ran out. However, the prices of the drinks were extortionate, I understand that this was a temporary bar set up just for the wedding, but I cannot justify their prices; £5 for a bottle of Stella Cidre, £3.40 for a shot of rum and £1.05 for a small can of fizzy drink (the size of the ones that are serviced on planes!) We will not be rushing back!

We were booked in to the Park Inn Palace for two nights for a mates wedding (not held at the same venue). We arrived on Saturday 31st August and although couldnt check in to the room until 3pm you can store your cases there. When it did come to checking-in the receptionist was on the desk by herself so it took a little time but she was very pleasant and helpful and gave us all the relevant information we could need.

The room was spacious but we were a little perplexed by the lack of wardrobes however there are hanging pegs with coathangers and storage underneath, it just looks a little untidy having all your stuff on show (i'm no prude but i wonder what the room-service guy thought when he walked in to see my undies on display...not the ones i was wearing i hasten to add!)

The bathroom was small but had everything you needed, the shower was great, no lack of hot water or pressure but i would say that the little shower-type tap on the sink was frustrating, a blue-tit would struggle to get enough flow to feel the benefit of that thing!

The location of the hotel is perfect, just a couple of minutes walk to the beach and the view from our hotel room, although mostly of a car-park, had very nice views of the beach and the sea. It's also a minute or so from the shops which was perfect on the morning of the wedding when i discovered i'd forgot to bring a belt and some other pieces with me, a 15 minute dash out and i was all sorted.

On one occasion we ordered some room service, it's hard to comment on room service because whatever hotel you go to you're going to pay a premium for it but i thought £40 for a couple of pizzas and jacket potatoes were steep, the food wasn't overly hot but, when drunk, it did the trick. (If sober i wouldn't have considered paying that kind of price).

The hotel bar is nicely furnished with a balcony overlooking the seafront. the restaurant is just off to the side where we had breakfast, talking of which, it was nice. Bacon, sausage, beans and toast for breakfast is a good way to start the day-i was a little perplexed to see roasted new potatoes on the breakfast menu though, but, each to their own! There were also some pastries and fruit available along with ham and cheeses. No shortage of bread either, be mindful of the toaster though, putting the bread through once will barely warm it, putting it through twice will incinerate it! There were also pots of coffee and tea available as well as a machine with chilled juice and water.

We had no issues with the room being cleaned or towels/linen being changed, having read some other reviews on the hotel i certainly agree that the one flat pillow you have isn't enough and caused me some discomfort by the time i woke up, i resorted to folding it in half on the second night, there is a definite need for more pillows but it didn't stop me sleeping.

All in all it was a nice hotel, we got our rooms a little cheaper through a website which is always worth doing if you can save a few quid and if i was going to return to Southend for an extended visit, i would stay at the Park Inn Palace again.

Booked 2 nights end of August for me my partner and 2 daughters 7 & 3 as basically had no choice due to all guest full and this place really expensive.
Walked into a room with dirty marks on the walls and doors, dirty bed linen and no storage space for clothes.
I booked breakfast both days costing £9.95 adults and £6.95 kids but the food was poor with little choice so poor value for money.
I cancelled breakfast for the 2nd morning and took the family to a local cafe instead and we had a decent breakfast at much less money.
Overall this hotel is not well maintained and not worth the money, you would get much better value and standard staying at the local premier inn or travelodge.

Stayed one night with a Groupon voucher. For the money we paid,we could not complain. Our room was small(compared to the lovely big one we stayed in on a previous visit)but it was clean and comfortable with a nice en-suite.There are only two small flat pillows on the bed, which i know doesn't suit all guests but we were fine with that.I'm sure we could have requested more if necessary. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was excellent. My husband and i both had the fish and chips, and it was very very nice. The restaurant wasn't at all busy so somewhat lacked in atmosphere, but the wonderful views from the huge windows made up for that.Breakfast was good. The usual array of yogurts, pastries, cereals and fruits plus buffet style cooked items.Only scrambled eggs were offered, but fried or poached can be cooked for you on request.I particularly liked the fresh breads that you slice yourself.Staff were very efficient and pleasant,as were the reception staff on our check-in.We do like this hotel,it is in a wonderful prime position on Southend's sea front, but somehow lacks personality and warmth. The restaurant maybe needs better advertising as the food is good, and it deserves to be busier. We would stay again, but only with a discount voucher.

Room Tip: The view from the sea facing rooms is glorious !!
