We stayed just the one night, hotel in a good location. Only one main towel in the bathroom for 2 people. The room was very good but the guy on reception was very rude impersonal and extremely rude and unhelpful.

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend in May, amazing location, just a short walk from southend central station, right at the bottom of the high street, and of course right opposite the beach, pier and adventure island. Did not opt for a sea view but the restaurant on the 1st floor had amazing views at breakfast which we had included with our room. Lovely buffet with hot and cold food, full english, cereals, fruit etc. Food was actually hot and fully stocked all the time, staff and service was great. Reception were really helpful, requested an iron which was brought straight to the room, safe luggage room after check out. Room was clean and overall a lovely stay.

Room Tip: I wouldn't bother spending extra on a sea view, you don't spend time in the room anyway. Lo...

Stayed for just one night. The hotel room itself was clean and comfortable. The bed comfortable and it had all the facilities you would need.

The bathroom was Ok, but there were a few stray hairs in the shower tray and some rust spots around the edges, which need to be looked at.

The breakfast was hot and there was plenty of food to choice from.

Asked for an early morning call, which didn't happen, so was pleased that I had set my own alarm.

There is no parking at the hotel, but they have negotiated a special rate, with the multi-storey across the road of £5 from 6 until 9 the following day.

We were lucky enough to get a good deal through a trip site. We were aware that the hotel did not have a car park and was pleasantly surprised when we found it was just across the road from hotel. Although our initial check in was rather brusk later we found the receptionist very pleasant, perhaps the original receptionist had had a busy day. As we got room cheap we thought room would be small but were pleasantly surprised to have a lovely big room all be it at the back of hotel (which is what we expected).

Room Tip: We had a room with a wet room shower although it was a wet room it is a bit uncomfortable after havi...

Hotel room was very spacious and clean and the little one has so much room to play in. The beds were nice but we could have used better pillows. The hotel is located right in front of the beach and fun fair which is great. Breakfast was delicious every morning.

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on business. Town looked a bit run down and outside of hotel looked like a very old building so was very pleasantly surprised by the inside of hotel. Very modern feel with large open plan bar and restaurant area, reception was very clean and bright even though the decor is quite dark in colour, browns and creams throughout hotel. View from restaurant and bar on 1st floor was great as it looked directly out to sea along pier. Long thin balcony area which smokers could use rather than go down to street level.
Rooms were enormous. I had one with little turret style area on corner which offered fantastic panoramic views of beach and church. Large dressing and work are, nice sized walked in shower and the separate sleeping area. Big bonus, plugs beside bed. Large windows which opened to allow fresh air in.
Breakfast was very good buffet style but with ability to order omelette, poached eggs etc if you wanted them. All staff through the hotel were brilliant except one waitress who was reluctant to bring me tea at breakfast.
Three of my colleagues were already at breakfast for about 15 mins when I joined them. Supervisor took my details and asked if I would like tea or coffee, I selected tea. However when I had eaten my cereal it still had not arrived so I asked a passing waitress for a pot of tea. She noticed that there was already a pot on our table so she said " Oh you have a pot" to which I replied that it was my colleagues tea and she then said "But it is only one pot between 2 people". In order to get the tea I had to tell her that it was virtually finished and was already on the table for at least 15 mins before I arrived. Yet my other colleagues were given a pot of coffee each. Minor glitch but I could have done without it when getting ready to go to work.

Room Tip: Fifth floor corner rooms are large, have fantastic views and very quiet.

We stayed just the one night and that was enough!
After having to park in a multi story across the road to the totally impersonal check in we should have been warned!!!
The room was OK at best, but to arrive in the bar and be told that the restaurant was closed. "no explanation" we ordered drinks and asked for the menu.
I have traveled the world and worked in some of the most exotic places and to be "told" that I must give my credit card details to order a drink (even though we were checked in guests) before being served was an insult.
It went down hill from there, when it arrived the food was over cooked, tasteless and dry. The only redeeming factor was the bar tender who tried his best to keep a smile on our faces.
But that was not enough, we took a stroll out on the front. Oh! my memories of 1976 were destroyed! Cheap arcades, even cheaper food stalls and piles of vomit on the pavement from sometime earlier. Southend and me are finished!
